We've got threads such as Looking for JAV Where Woman Get r***ing But "Desperately Try to Act Tough" (ici) and Actresses Who Convincingly Convey Consternation (aqui); what about the opposite?

You might be saying, the reason why the mentioned threads above are special is because women who portray victims in JAV are easily found, and we expect them to be pushovers... and thus, it's refreshing to find the kind that display a fighting spirit. That's why let's try not to point out the ladies who simply come across as weak in a role they happen to be playing. (Since there is no end to them.) The idea here is...

Pointing out the actresses who naturally connote helplessness!

You look at her and you just think... almost irrespective of the role she is playing... that her purpose in life is to get taken advantage of!

Over three years ago, I put up a post called:

Yu Kawakami is the Eternal Victim!

I wrote:

"What makes Yu so delightful is that she is a natural. She believably conveys innocence and shame and humiliation, with her irresistible facial expressions. She makes you believe in her victimhood, a state she can almost revel in."

One of the great examples provided was: Young Wife Lesbian Impellation [ANND-053]



Now I've seen Yu Kawakami in parts where she plays the aggressor, and she is such a great actress it's not that she can't pull off those types of roles. Yet there is such a "natural vulnerability" to Yu, sometimes you have to suspend some disbelief in order to buy her in the sassy and hard-bitten types of roles.

On the other side of the coin, the one who made Yu's life miserable in ANND-053 was Noa, a fine actress in her own right. Can Noa play a weakling? Of course she can; but she naturally exhibits a certain "tough" spirit that does not genuinely lend itself to a sense of powerlessness.

Well, this is a hard thing to describe, because most JAV actresses come across as "innocent," with their kewpie-doll faces. Yet what we are going for here is those who go the extra mile.

What made me decide to create this thread was the photo you see below, which I have just came across:



... From Lesbian Fisting and Drug [DDT-520]. Can Yui Misaki, on the left, manage to pull off such a "woe is me" expression? Of course she can. And yet what Maki Hoshikawa, on the right, shouts out is: "My lawn is here to get totally mowed, and there ain't one thing I can do about it."

In other words, there is something "real" there. I hope you know what I'm getting at.

Looking through other things Maki Hoshikawa has been in, she generally carries with her such an essence. Even when she is trying to put up a brave face, as with Real Kindergarten Teacher, She's Offering Her Anus [DFE-017] (pictured below) there is something sad and feeble about her.




Can you think of other actresses who "go the extra mile" in vulnerability and victimhood?

I have just run into a recent Yu Kawakami potboiler, where she appears to have returned in force to the kind of role she does best... "The Eternal Victim." I just felt like bringing the movie to your attention.

I don't know much about ...

Yui Nishikawa

... Although it's easy to see she has been a solid player, based on her impressive output.

I normally would not pay attention to an actress who looks like her, not because she is not attractive (of course she is; she has a lovely "meaty" body, too), but because she looks so "regular" (that is... uhhh... she does not "Stand Out in a Crowd").


Look at her!

Yet I was watching Just Married, Bullying a Teacher - Disgraceful Afterschool Activities With Nowhere to Run [JUX-794], and... I was impressed. Yui went beyond the regular JAV actress playing-a-victim routine. Yui made for a very believable weak-willed, spineless, sad little victim!

The EMOTION expressed at the humiliating moment her bosom is exposed is wonderful! (We can... feel her pain.)



What's more, there is a bunch of titles in her filmography that indicates the poor thing is walking with a cloud over her head (although naturally she has appeared in many "regular" titles, as well).

So... can we buy Yui Nishikawa as the tough "Stealthy Investigator" that she played in MKMP-062?

I was slightly bowled over by

Emiri Suzuhara

...In Confined to a Home Where All She Does is Have Sex Inside a Room [GVG-106]



So sweet... and hopeless!



I didn't know whether this successful show of subservience was something she pulled off just for this movie, so I opened up another movie of hers I had on hand:

New Employee Who Recently Graduated Was Violated and While Unable to Make a Sound, She Came to Feel Pleasure [HBAD-267]



The same "genuine innocence" was showcased as well, so I will make the hasty conclusion that compellingly exhibiting victimhood comes naturally for the actress.

Clemenceko has written about how much Emiri had impressed her in HBAD-267:

This is the first time I am watching her video and boy she is not only beautiful, she had SUPERB CREAMY WHITE porcelain skin. She also had unique moans. Reminds me a lot of Ruu Hoshino's unique moans.

(I wouldn't know about the unique moans, as I normally watch with audio off... but if that's the case, Emiri appears to have even more delights to offer.)

You know what was on the TV last night? The 1971 Western, VALDEZ IS COMING! (Written by Elmore Leonard.)

Now you might be asking, what's the big deal about that? After all, who wants to watch if Valdez is having an orgasm? But I was in the mood, and I started watching, and then...

There were telltale scenes that reminded me I had seen this movie once before, a long time ago.

I could barely remember anything about it. But then...

There was a scene toward the end, where Valdez was in some sort of a cave with the lady he had kidnapped; suddenly I felt a tingle. I didn't know what was going to happen (you know, because I had forgotten everything), but I remembered there was going to be something special coming up.

As the scene wore on, I realized why I was impressed enough to single this scene out in my "subconscious" memory. Valdez understands the woman knows who killed her husband. She doesn't want to tell him, but Valdez begins to press her in no uncertain terms.



When the lady finally reveals the answer, you can see... the ANGUISH in her face. She really conveyed how much this moment was tearing her inside. See, that's what had struck me so powerfully to sort of remember how striking this scene was... it all had to do with the beautiful acting choices made by the actress... you could feel the emotion.

The actress was Susan Clark, one I never thought of as a great actress, although I always liked her. Maybe because she wouldn't mind showing skin once in a while, as Hollywood actresses from the 1970s were expected to do, damn it. (There she is exposing herself a little below, from the scene in the movie where she gets kidnapped.)




Now there was another movie I saw recently, a movie that was a little different than the foregoing, and it was called: "I Orgasmed Over And Over Again As My Husband's Boss r***ing Me" [VEC-225]. (At least the lead character had something in common with the coming Valdez.)

I was paying attention to how the actress handled "discomfort," but first a word or two about the actress herself.

Nana Kamiyama

At first I thought she was a newcomer (never heard of her, you see; not that I retain names of JAV actresses even when I hear of them), based on her filmographies at R18 and Asian Screens. Then I took a closer look at Minnano-AV, and was I in for a shock!

Once I saw the cover of what may have been her first JAV from one year ago, NNPJ-132, it hit me like a lightning bolt that she's the same actress I had written about around a year ago, in the "Mixed Blooded JAV Actress" thread: Sayaka.



I had written, "I don't care what you say, I dig Sayaka." In the next post, I see Pikuseru concurred: "Damn, Sayaka is gorgeous." No question about it, this woman is fabulous. Beautiful face, fantastic body, bountiful bust.

(Also with help from her Sougouwiki page, other aliases include, Maki Egawa, Nanami Sakurai, Gabriel, Umemiya and Kanako.)

Okay, let's get back to Nana's acting style, or what made an impression on me in VEC-225.

As often happens in these "boss takes advantage of worker's wife" movies (which I happen to like a lot, because the lady is at a disadvantage), the boss (played by bad-boy Cylinder, always a plus) escorts the drunk-out-of-his-mind worker to his home (this must be a Japanese thing. It would be the rare American boss who would spend time bringing his lowly employee all the way to the employee's doorstep), and he says things to his employee's wife, and she looks ... uncomfortable. Next scene, she's tied up and the boss is taking pictures, which doesn't make sense for those of us having no idea about what was said.

So we can imagine the director directing Nana Kamiyama, instructing her to look worried and nervous, not different than how VALDEZ IS COMING's director must have instructed Susan Clark. Here is what she did:



She went out of her way to tell her viewer that she was nervous and uncomfortable!

Looking left, then right, then left, darting her eyes here, then there, sometimes even bringing her eyebrows together...

It was fantastic!

Yes, I know Stanislavski must have been rolling in his grave, as he realized that Nana was completely abandoning what a probably-Method trained actress like Susan Clark was relying on. Nana decided instead to telegraph very loudly the emotions she was required to emit.

But you know what? I'm not making fun of Nana Kamiyama. I'm actually commending her.

I'm not saying all porn acting should be this way. There are times we can admire a real actress who appears in porn transmitting emotions in a subtle manner. On the other hand, as long as an actor does not come across as a cartoon character (y'know, like Tubby... not that we don't love Tubby for his antics), I think it's usually great when a porn actress makes it "obvious."

This is why I praised Rin Ogawa; I felt her deliberately hammy style of acting worked well, to drive home the point that her damsel was in yummy distress. More JAV actresses should try doing the same, instead of (and I'm being unfair) acting like cardboard cut-outs.



The reason is, as VEC-225 continues, and we see Nana Kamiyama completely giving in (that is the subject of this thread, you know... actresses who manage subservience in an impactful manner) — the absurd situation her character is in becomes a little more believable, and more enjoyable to watch.

I am with you 100%! I LOVE Yu Kawakami in almost everything she's done. (There are a couple of SCAT-themed movies that turned me off because of that particular kink.) Her vulnerability and submissiveness that inevitably brings her to embrace what she is being forced to do stokes my fire for some reason! LOL!

Unfortunately, I've not found any of her movies that are uncensored or with subtitles. One day.... <heavy sigh>
