UPDATE: Episode 04 was muxed with the wrong subs. I attached a patch to this post and it is also available here. To use the patch extract to the folder where the video is and run patch.bat.

I noticed some serious loss of detail in my Softenni encode the other day and because I can't be bothered to find the BDVMs to do a good reencode I decided to make a v2 by remuxing with Yousei raws. The file size is a bit rickdickulous so I'll leave the old version up for people who have space concerns. Anyways, here's the scene with the issues I mentioned before and here's a couple more comparisons between my encode and the raw.

* Based on a manga by Azuchi Ryou, serialised in Monthly Comic Blade.

The five spirited middle school girls of the Shiratama Middle School Soft Tennis Team have high hopes in winning tournaments and making it into the nationals.

There is the energetic, always enthusiastic klutz Harukaze Asuna, the strict Sawanatsu Kotone, very skilled in Karate, scares easily, but has a decidedly violent streak, the busty air-headed glutton Akiyama Chitose, captain of the team but actually the least skilled, the sporty, tanned Fuyukawa Kurusu, a soft tennis ace, who loves to wear strange masks and scare Kotone, and finally the blond-haired exchange student from the UK, Elizabeth Warren, a gifted "real" tennis player with a crush on sensei.

Together with Mishimagi You, a former tennis prodigy as teacher and coach, the team's high goals might well be attainable. But will the quirky personalities of these girls be an asset or a hindrance in this endeavour?

Finally, a quick update about some of the projects I'm working on. I'm OCRing, retiming, and typesetting the VobSubs from AnimeAnarachy's (~AA~) release of Kanokon (also added karaoke for the OP/ED). It's taking longer than I expected (only 1 episode is finished and 2 more OCR'd) but I will share the story of my pain when it's all done. It looks sooo much better than the eye cancerous VobSubs though. Besides that, I'm also planning on encoding, revising (I have about 5 different groups' subs per episode that I'm kinda mixing and matching), and typesetting (no one seems to have bothered typesetting signs except Nishishi who only did 6-8) the KissxSis OVAs. I have all the ISOs and so far 2 episodes are encoded. I probably won't release Kanokon until it's all done but the KissxSis OVAs will probably be one at a time (the order will probably be 0 [started it first], 7 [the loli episode], 8 [most recent/relevant], 1, 2...). (Rather generous) ETAs: Kanokon - end of the month, KissxSis 0 - Monday. Look forward to it!

UPDATE: I drastically underestimated the amount of typesetting needed for volume 0 of KissxSis. So far I've done about 3 and a half of 52 signs (actually more like sound effects) and it's taken nearly 350 lines. Hopefully the rest of the volumes won't be as bad. On the plus side, the script is finished and I think it's rather good and I realized Tasty's subs had really nice karaoke for the ED so I'm just going to save myself some work and steal that. Also, I found out the Exiled-Destiny release of Kanokon uses R1 subs in SRT format so I don't need to go through the hassle of OCRing the rest of the episodes. There's a good chance Kanokon is going to become my priority because I handle so much of the typesetting hell that is KissxSis at a time. Revised ETA: KissxSis - end of the month, Kanokon - month and a half.
