In various JAVs sex slaves or prostitutes are being referenced as being in Soapland. Is that a Japanese slang expression for prostitution? What is the origin of this name?

Soaplands are basically brothels. Totally legal. No penetrative sex is allowed (officially) to comply with Japanese law. You basically get head, take a bath together, get a massage on an air bed and go to a bed for more play. There are tons of variations and fetish soaplands too.
