May I ask what your job is within the industry?

If I had to take a guess at which AV studios are influenced by the yakuza, I would say Dogma, for one....

why you guess Dogma are influenced by the Yakuza ?

because they oftenly made S&M theme ?

I think japanese are used to mozaik, its not only in their porn, but for mainstream movies and tv series too

I've Japanese version of Ken Park movie, and its censsored the genital area too

Ok. I guess its just a cultural thing, much like koreans pixilate blades of knives on tv ( so weird)

yes I think its rule that already became part of the culture

at the first time watched JAV I also think this censsorship rule is so weird, why made hardcore porn movies but censsored it, but japan has many unique rules right ?

I try to stress this to people as much as I can when it comes to JAV censorship. Once you get your mind over the pixelated dicks and vaginas it opens up a new world of unlimited possibilities!

samurai79: I do distribution, translation, licensing, subtitling, and more for various studios.

I've only heard of one studio having Yakuza ties (which I won't name) and it's not Dogma. Tohjiro's a cool dude.

Amen to that. I think as I watch more jav I kinda understand the beauty of censored porn. But the korean pixilated blade to in my opinion much weirder.

Okay. I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Sounds like you have an interesting job. One question I have is, why do big studios like Ideapocket always use the same dudes for their bukkake scenes?! Watch any of the Digital Channel series and you'll see the same guys over and over again....

samurai79: (and sorry I don't use the quote function, something about my VPN and this forum don't get along)

No idea. I don't work with them, but it's probably the same reason why one always sees the same actors: dependability. If you got a group of guys who aren't that weird, can cum when needed, and don't mind being paid peanuts (as is the going rate for background bukakke men), then why actively search for more?

If you're in Japan and in Tokyo, you can probably make your way on to an AV set in a bukkake production at the very least. So long as you speak near fluent Japanese, don't mind if your face is shown (they may let you wear sunglasses, but they won't waste costly hours adding mosaic to a random guy's face), and don't mind probably not being paid anything, they'll take you. 9 out of 10 times when a foreigner is barred from taking part in a Japanese sex service, it's communication-related. Go in speaking fluent Japanese be it an AV studio or a high-end soapland and you'll be fine. Don't ask if foreigners are OK, just assume everyone is so long as they speak Japanese and rock it.

If im gonna set up a jav production in japan, I assume I should hire personnel who has many backgrounds in producing a film from shooting to editing the film. A person who fills in as an actor, sound guy, camera dude, editor etc etc... Is that the case with jav studios in japan?

Bakero: that's the case. A lot of studios hire film crews on freelance.
Man, thats pretty hard to freelance for the crew, especially the male porn actor. I imagine he has jerk off many times in one day to multiple actresses shooting sex scenes. Maybe thats why some movies I watch the cum drips so little especially the creampie scenes. Well that's cost cutting for you..hehehe

Gokkun Punch: It's a lot harder nowadays for Yakuza to collect protection money. The laws have changed making it easier for cops to crack down on it. I'm sure they have an involvement in AV at some level, but it's best not to assume many large studios has guys like Riki Takeuchi lounging around their offices with Gucci-clad feed in the air.

And just to be absolutely clear here - when Inertia says "it's best not to assume" he means it's best for you health because if you don't stop you'll have a visit from a couple of guys like Riki Takeuchi! (I don't know who that is but he sounds real, real intimidating!)
