Problem Browsing Akiba-online with Chrome?

Can anyone suggest what might have changed here, or with my Chrome browser, to cause the site to run painfully slow? I used to be able to zoom up and down pages of threads with this browser and now I can't. It kind of ratchets along and is very jerky. If I use Firefox all appears to work fine. I know, I could just solve the problem by abandoning Chrome. If I do I will be giving up some features I like so I'd like to find a solution.

mhm. my chrome is working okay-isch.
though, if there are lots of images i've got the same problem. But this is also on other sites :/
