12 floors below the surface, people still need to eat!

Or perhaps they were just lining up to see this sea-taxi (kinda cool, eh?)

Kinda reminds me of the 'break in' scene from Akira but without the "Flying Platforms" with mounted mini-guns and kids tripping out on psychotropic drunks (lets not forget the characters in Akira were all like 14 to 16 years old)

This is why you see so many pigeons with only one foot.

14 floors underground? Seriously? I'm majorly impressed. I had no idea such things existed outside of science fiction. That's a pretty long way down to dig, first of all, and to then create such an expanse at that -- and not just a solitary skyscraper's limited square footage per floor -- is unbelievable. Theoretically, if one-third of Tokyo had that sort of subterranean infrastructure, the entire city -- all xx million of them -- could go underground to shelter a tsunami, an airstrike bombing, etc. That's just nuts. In a very cool way.

And what brought you there, anyway? Don't tell me the main subway system is that deep! (I'd have thought four to five stories tops.) From the photos you took, it looks sort of like 50% shopping mall merged with 50% basement of an office building. The people mostly looked like blue collar workers (in at least one of the photos). Is it a popular shopping district? or is it a place few people commonly frequent?

Ot was a puff-ball doughnut with a HUGE dollop of semi-sweet whipped cream. In the silver jar was super-sweet and sour raspberry sauce with a side of iced-tea (non sweet).
Ugh, my teeth hurt just thinking about that.

I want one.

It's at a place my lady took me to in Jimbocho on the Hanzomon line. The same company that owns Mr. Doughnut also owns this higher end doughnut style shop too.

What the heck. How I missed this last night, I don't know, but ...

... THAT'S THE NAUTILUS FROM DISNEY WORLD'S 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA RIDE!

Actually, it looks 10x better. While the original ride is probably more historically accurate for what the Nautilus was capable of being back when Verne wrote the book, the vessel in the photo you took definitely fits my memories of the Nautilus a lot better, i.e. it is closer to a child's vivid imagination and has expansive windows to allow for excellent visibility.
