These 5 were taken in Narita, which is about 40 mins by train from the airport. It's a really nice town to get over jet-lag for a day or two. Anymore than that and you'll be bored.. It has a temple and surrounding gardens which are perfect for relaxing!!! I highly recommend getting to the temple early to sit-in on the morning.....cermony, sorry i don't know the correct term, but basically when the monks do their thing. I got an enormous sense of well-being that morning.

No.1 & No.2 are of Hakodate, Hokkaido, famous for it's fishing, delicious sashimi and this view!! (Got my first experience of racism here)

No.3 is Wakkanai, Hokkaido, the most northern point of Japan!

No.4 is midday Harajuku, Tokyo. The building on the right with the pink stripes is called Condomania. It sells every type of condom you could possible want. hee hee!

No.5 is my favourite of all temples i visited in Japan. It's in Obama, Honshu.

Thanks!

I got refused at bars. Wasn't even allowed through the door. "No, no, no. Japanese only. Sorry". After a couple of beers, the "sorry" really rubbed salt in the wound, but I wasn't about letting that ruin my time there...

I only experienced it in Hakodate and Sendai. But I was told by my Japanese friends that it was more likely them being worried you would talk to them, meaning they would 'have to' speak English. Apparently many Japanese avoid Gaijin for that very reason in everyday situations.

Oh and a porn shop told me to get out too...

Hehe, I only got that once, that was in Osaka. I think yakuza might have been involved in that one so I decided to keep my nose out of that place.
That's some really beautiful pics btw. The only time I got to see some nature, besides concrete jungle, was in Hakkone.

Same thing happened to me in Marseille, France and Mumbai, India. Being an american abroad isn't much fun these days.

a city bus driver announced "hey foreigner, sit down and shut up" to me while I was on my first date with this girl. i was drunk and he said it in japanese of course, so i had to ask her what he'd said. then i tried in my stumbling, polite, japanese to ask him to stop the bus and get out so i could kick his ass. good times. :)

Are you joking? I was petrified of fighting in Japan. Well more accurately, scared of what the police would do to a trouble-making gaijin... One of my friends, a gaijin, beat up a guy on a train cos the guy was molesting a young girl, but everyone on the train told him to run away because what he did was 'very bad'....

What a fun time that you guys had in Japan. :surprised:
I agree that Japan is a nice place to visit.
But, for the people, I think it's better to understand the culture more before you contact with them.

Like some others have said, really nice pictures you have there :)
Makes me want to visit Japan and stay for awhile as well, maybe like half a year? Anyway I also heard that when a woman gets molested on trains/buses no one does a thing to help?

You sound hopeful! Are you gonna try it now, just to see if you can get away with it?? HA HA!!

Actually, there have been a number of cases of molesters getting grabbed by other passengers in recent years. In one case, the man was chased by four other men along the platform and collapsed, later dying in hospital from a heart attack. So, if you are planning on doing a little groping, make sure you are in shape and wearing running shoes :evillaugh:

This is a funny one. I have "regular" photos as well, but since I'm here long term, not so much on the touristy side.

This one is from a sign outside the aquarium in Nagoya.

Apparently bombs are not allowed.
