OK, so I'm trying something out here. I'm putting together some "best-of" compilations in DVD video format. Here's a LINK to a preview of the first installment featuring Reina Matsushima 松嶋れいな. I also made up a cover, y'know, just 'cuz.
You may be asking yourself a couple of questions at this point, so I'll try to clarify...
Q: Why DVD and not Blu-Ray?
A: Because a standard Blu-Ray (video) Disc is ~25gb & a standard DVD (video) disc is ~4.5gb. Most people aren't interested in attempting to d/l a full capacity Blu-Ray worth of data - for ~2hrs of video, anyway.
Q: Why not just regular video files instead of a big DVD .ISO - a typical JAV DVD is made available as a 1-3gb video file instead of ~4.5gb?
A: One of the reasons I've taken on this project is that I'm practicing other skills not 100% JAV related. Also, I like the idea of a menu selection and the various features the DVD format provides.
Q: Didn't you just post recently that you were "busy with real life" and didn't have much time to be involved here?
A: Yup. And as I alluded to in the above previous answer, this project is somewhat related to work I've been doing. This allows me to work on some JAV-stuff in a way that's actually practical.
Q: What about the other "projects" you started and never finished before disappearing for several months?
A: They are probably as complete as they will get - at least by me. If I feel inspired to do more reviews, I'll write them; but they are surprisingly time consuming for the result. And I already accomplished most of what I set out to do with the guide to Japanese. And honestly, DMM has been changing so much lately that I don't know how practical any further primers on it are right at the moment.
Q: So what makes this project any different? How long before you stop working on this one?
A: Hard to say. I've already got pre-production done for about a dozen discs. I'll work on it as long as I'm motivated, have time, and people seem interested. I'm not charging anybody anything, so if I quit, no one's out anything.
So that covers that basics. If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to ask. As you can see from the preview, the plan is to make the .ISO available on Monday. I'm leaning toward posting it on Ryushare as a series of .rar's or I might torrent it. I'm open to feedback on what people think might be the best route.
