Next month, Nintendo will launch the 3DS XL (known as the 3DS LL in Japan) which has a top screen that's 90% larger than the regular 3DS'. The handheld system will have longer battery life but will still have only one circle pad.

Japanese launch colours: White, Red/Black, Silver/Black
European launch colours: Red, Blue, Silver

What do you think of the console? Which colour will you pick? Is this what Nintendo/gamers need or not?

If they're making the thing larger, isn't that a move away from 'portable gaming' ?

If the trend continues, you may as well go back to your desk.

I finally got around to buying a 3DS XL because my GF bought a 3DS (non LL) on her last trip to Japan. Apparently her brother and his wife both bought the limited edition Animal Crossing 3DS LL and when she saw the game she downloaded it, so I bought one to play with her.

I might have bought one earlier but the North American colours are SHIT. I don't want to play something that looks like a Smartie/M&M. So I ended up buying the Pink 3DS XL (because I wanted a white interior, the black interior is so ugly and dreary) and my GF imported me the Shin Megami Tensei IV accessory set so I can make it look more presentable. Don't get me wrong, the pink is miles better than the blue and red but you can't go wrong with a white MegaTen decal seeing as my ideal 3DS would be entirely white. Reggie is a liar and says all white and all black don't sell in North America. My ass Reggie, stop catering to little kids.

Either way, kick ass system and MegaTen IV was more than enough reason to buy it (as well as Project X Zone).
