I'm not buying the whole "don't complain, it's free" thing. I download tv shows, movies and western porn, all for free, and nobody ads watermarks or ads to those. So why should I put up with it in case of JAV.
Luckily there's enough stuff out there that isn't made unwatchable by this crap, even though it does sometimes mean missing a movie that looks otherwise interesting but can't be found in a clean version.

Don't get me wrong. I don't support at all these messed up videos and I hate that people do this. But, if a film only exists in a watermarked version I'll probably download it given no other choice.

I agree. DL first. If better version becomes available, upgrade. This approach does use up BW and HD space. I just consider it the cost of the hobby.

I just wish there were a way to send negative feedback to the spammers that they have not done themselves any favors. While dioguitar did not intend this when he/they started the yellow watermark garbage, since then for me the name dioguitar = crap. I know they try to put out high quality FHD stuff. But in my collection, I earmark all spammed video files with "dg" in honour of the stunt they pulled.
