I need a suggestion (about file hosts)

i'm still fine with hotfile, but i know it's just a matter of time and i'll be shot down like many others, so i'm thinking about a possible alternative.
it's quite an important decision, because i'm going to buy an annual premium on it just to keep my files alive.
i already have filesonic.

requirements:
- as clean as possible for free users
- unlimited storage
- remote uploading feature (not necessary but it's a nice plus)
- any kind of reward program; IDC about money, but it must at least pay for premium by itself, in the medium-long run

thus the big NOs are
Rapidshare (of course)
Megaupload (problematic in my country, and i can't browse it anyway)
Mediafire (no remote and no rewards)
FileFactory (500 GB for free and 2000 GB for premium? seriously?)

pretty much anything else would be fine with me, but there are too many of them.... so what do you suggest?

fileserve, bitshare, depositfiles, duckload, easy-share...???

I would go for deposit files. you get points for free preimum time with downloads. Depending on how many d/ls you get it can pay for its selfs in no time. if you going to buy a years sub @ depositfiles let me know first as I can give you a discount code that gives you 10% off :perfectplan:

There are benifits to using a different filehoster than others normally do here. While I am not interested in these filehosters myself I have heard of Duckload being mentioned as one of the up and coming filehosters along with Filesonic. It might be worth looking into.

Depositfiles is tried and true but that does not mean there are not better oppurtunities.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

thank you Ceewan

+1 to duckload then
basically unlimited file size and an easy to browse interface
(ugh! 1 year premium €50 = $70)

I suggest you Uploading.com (keep your files forever if you are premium user). I used and I see it's a prestige file host. I love Uploading :harp:

:warning: Here's my (free) downloader's perspective on duckload based on two consecutive days' attempts to access a 350mb file:

download speeds of 23.6 kbps--or worse!--which works out to 4 hrs. 31 mins for the file.

If it was any slower, I could actually go back in time while waiting for duckload downloads to waddle their way through cyberspace. Compared to them, rapidshare is a laser-guided missile (no, I'm not recommending RS, just drawing an unfavorable comparison with a file-hoster that's become the poster-child of bad-business practice).

I hear Oron is Vladimir Putin's personal favorite...:joker:

Filesonic seems to be famous nowadays...The good thing about filesonic is that most of JAV uploaders uses filesonic to upload their files, so if you sign in for premium, you are able to download the latest collections. The bad thing about filesonic is that downlaods sometimes stops at 50 % or even lesser, especially when you download more than 4 files at a time (as a premium user). So basically, its unstable, but nevertheless, a good investment if you don't mind downloading 3 to 4 files per time....

These are just my experiences from using filesonic..

That unstable connection might be because of my internet connection though:pandalaugh:

thank you all guys

@superjav: uhm, i never heard anything about uploading.com, and i'm not seeing it being used that much; gotta test it myself, i guess

@gyozaR&B: perfect. that was exactly what i didn't want to read.
TY very much for your report, because i was heading the duckload way!

sadly, no: it just happened to me too -with jdownloader- and i was wondering what could have happened
oh well, nothing's perfect...

yes, almost every files host offer its own reward program, which is essentially money paid to the uploaders for every x times his files are downloaded.

i may be wrong but hotfile has been one of the pioneers of this practice (megaupload aside, because being paid by them is asking for too much)

and do the filehosts really care whats being uploaded?

oh yes, they do! despite all the legal mumbo jumbo they write in their TOS, they know that for people to buy premium accounts there MUST be something valuable to be downloaded, thus illegal stuff is more than welcome, until/unless DMCA shit starts to hit the fan... then they blame the uploaders and close their accounts, and kiss your files goodbye

so thats how this works, do the uploaders also earn if users dl freedownloads,
and could someone who is really poor even make a living with that,
and do the uploaders rip from other rippers?

thx

of course

HINT: try to guess from where most of the big uploaders are -_o

(there is a closed thread where a dude asks to be unbanned because he needs money to pay for his new house... or something on that line)

and do the uploaders rip from other rippers?

once again yes, of course
people doing it for the money are registered in hundreds forums (there are software created specifically for multi-forum posting), then someone else download and re-upload the same file (maybe splitted in smaller/bigger parts or renamed) and the cycle begins anew

are you planning on something? :study:

one more question, what about punishment, do the uploaders if they say post 2000 movies get serious problems?

nah, that could be the case if we were talking about hollywood movies or newly released music albums, or videogames, but japanese porn?
i don't think hotfile or the like will really report anybody's personal info, unless they're dealing with pedophilia, snuff, or seriously fucked up stuff.
they just receive complaints and delete thing, and ban users.

or at least that's what i think, but mind you: you're still doing something illegal, and you can still get caught in dozens other ways

about your guess i have no idea, some poor country, china, africe no maybe southamerica?

vietnam, china, india are the first that come to mind
oh and eastern europe too

i startet dl-ing because i was and am crazy about japanese girls and movies

welcome aboard:beautiful:
