Thank YOU DScott! This subtitle project is truly honorable. It's like a dream having subtitles for some of the classic gokkun films that I have been translating in real time with my subpar Japanese. Having subtitles allows the imagination to run more freely with the visuals.

If I remember correctly, you awhile back posted a message related to filling in gaps in your Shuttle-Japan collection. Are you still looking for anything? I noticed in the Shuttle-Japan folder, in the folder labeled "subx" that I have a number of titles that are not represented with the included subtitles. Of course, that doesn't mean you don't otherwise have those titles, but if you have specific ones that you are still looking for, post or send me a DM with a list and I'd be happy to check my library. I've always been a big fan of Shuttle-Japan. I had an extensive collection at one time, but unfortunately lost some over the years with failed drives. I also have a couple legit VHS tapes in the original cases with covers that I picked up in Japan in 2001.

Here Is the L file. There's only about200 srt's. Filesize is small about 20 Meg. So this is a good one if people want to check the quality of my files.

On that note I have a question that I really would like some feedback on. When I have completed a folder,let's say “L” there's always several files that have very small filesize, 0-3kb. These typically are for a few reasons, they are comp. videos that have no dialog, I have a found a few videos that have no sound at all, The videos have very minimal dialog, and once in a while you will get a hallucination that just says, thank you for viewing my video or please subscribe.

With these files it is my habit to re-run them through Whisper to see if I can get something better but more often than not it is the same result. I've tried running without VAD on these files and almost always it is just hallucinations.

Ultimately I just delete 0,1 Kb before uploading the zip but it just occurred to me that some people may want these anyway. They take up no space in the zip so if any of you have a preference would you let me know. Adding or excluding them is a tiny step in the process so it makes no difference to me but if it does to you guys, please let me know. Thanks.

I posted earlier about the filenames. As you can see I am doing a massive project of creating subs for about 25K videos. I have spent a lot of time trying to tweak whisper to give the best possible result but there's a tradeoff, the more you get exact the more hallucinations and so, while the results are not perfect, they are reasonably close. With regard the the name shortening. When doing a batch of files, let's say 100, Whisper ignored maybe a Dozen and I eventually figured out it was because of the names. It didn't even have to be a long name, You could have ABC-123 gokkun-.ts and that may be enough to cause whisper to ignore it. For me the solution was to rename all of my files with only the code. My renaming program allows removing all characters after a certain point but you have to define where you want the characters removed, for example, if the file is named ABC-123, if I tell my program to remove all characters after the 8th character then that woud work fine. The problem is that if a filename is say 15 characters, like, FC2-ppv-1234556, then my perameters would rename that file to FC2-ppv- , and remove all the necessary code. To combat that I have set my perameters to remove from the 11th character for most files. This will yield filenames like ABC-123 wh.ts it is a bit cumbersome but it is the best I can do. If I were dealing with 5 or 10 files, it would be easy to do them individually but with 25 Thousand it is just not prudent. Net result, the end-user will have to do a little file-renaming to make the srt and video file coincide.
On the VLC front I had just nightmares trying to get VLC to recognize subs for files with the .ts extention. I have finally resorted to using potplayer as my default for .ts and that works great. Ultimately I like VLC better but dems the breaks.

Hiya Gokkun lovers. Here is my "s" srts. There are about 3K Srt files in this one so it is a large file. this is the last really big file. I think the remaining T-Z forlders are much smaller. I may even package a bunch of them together. I forgot to remove the 0kb-3kb files so you kids can manage that. Another thing that may interest the regular members. I'm sure that the skilled subtitle gurus already know this but here's a little tidbit for normal folks. You can manually edit the .srt files, for instance if you open the .srt in a word processing program, like wordpad, you can see the duration of a piece of text, let's say the file says

In # 1 it shows that from 6 Seconds to 18 Seconds the screen is going to say "Excuse me, are you Nene Chan?" You can edit thta to only show for 3 Seconds instead of 12 Seconds by changing the End time. You also could concievably change "Excuse me, Are you Nene Chan?" to Excuse me, are you that amazing cocksucker from HongKong?" I'm mentioning this only because some may not know and since I am mass producing these srt's there may be some that miss text, play it for too long, or a myriad of other annoyances. You could also use a word processor to replace all of a particular word or phrase. Let's say a srt has translated the words "I'm going t throw up" a bunch of times, you could use find and replace with your wordprocessor and just replace "throw up" with Blow some juice from my pink meat-cannon" Anyway, the point is that you're not stuck with the srt's as they stand. It's very easy to edit them like you would any document.

I'll try it again with another set of configs that I use. It sometimes will yield hallucinations but maybe it may be better. One of the problems that Whisper has is if multiple people are talking, that really messes things up.. Anyway, you're in luck because I am in mid process so I'll go and run that right now and see if it is any better. This has picked up more dialog but still there are areas where she is clearly speaking but Whisper has not caught it.
