Yep, just a big comic convention, nothing else. There are always a lot of people doing cosplay which is ok, however some of them do NOT do a good job and look like goons.
Speaking of something along those lines, I have a friend in Nagoya who saw a bunch of cosplayers recently; apparently they have some sort of annual convention there as well, so it's spreading...
It's like aids... only it didn't start with *enter african country name here*'ese fucking monkeys.
