"The End of Cool Japan" is a collection of articles about how Japan's "cultural exports" intersect with other cultures. Sold as a book, but the articles stand on their own.

I found it by searching for the term "Candy Doll". One of the articles talks about that studio and its popularity in Japan. It also gives an overview of recent (up to 2016) ways that the law of multiple countries has created complications for consumers of 2D loli and 3D U18 media.

I haven't read it totally, but I liked the sections I did.

The academic language might detract a bit from the reading experience, but the book can offer fresh perspectives that you might not have seen or imagined. Some of topics are: anime, manga, fandom, piracy, junior idols, religion, imperialism, homosexuality.

(Google Books has a big preview of it.)
