It might be safer for the future. 
When the Safelink.strike-up site got updated, they merged both site together instead of having 2 separate with different interfaces.
If you use their API from the safelink.strike-up domain, it will use safelinking in the created link name so that's obviously what they prefer people use.
Edit: This made me realize that I was still using safelink.strike-up in my API calls and since it's not back yet for me, I had to change it to made it work.
