I'm always unable to state my opinion in these "of the year" polls because the stuff I like are usually from 1-2 years back. I have to scour through maybe 10 movies to find 1 that interests me.
For the sake of relevance though, here are the participants for the Japan Adult Expo, due to be held on 17-18 Nov at Toyosu Pit.

I google translated イメージ ガール and it says "Image Girl". I suppose they are mascots of some sort for the event.
Out of the 83 I only recognized 13. I got some mixed up too...I thought there were two Saki Kozais in existence, only to find out the clone goes by the name Amatsuka Moe.

It was nice of Zen10101 to have provided the link for Japan's porn awards, and I took heart when he added, "I know like five of them." That's because I'm the worst when I see a bunch of pretties in a row, trying to figure out who's who. But when I clicked on the photos and their larger pictures came up (and their names in English didn't hurt, either), I found myself thinking, hey! I know her... and I know her... so I didn't believe old Zen. He's far too much of an expert to have not pinned a lot of them. (I mean, there was Maki Hojo. Who doesn't know Maki Hojo? There was Yu Kawakami, there was Julia, I mean, "JULIA"... along with plenty of others I did not know, but the point is, if I could peg several, chances are many on this list were identifiable by many Akiba'ers.)
(Oh, I just read Zen's later post where he was more specific, stating he could only get 13 out of 83. All right, I'm believing him. For God's sake, don't make me out to call Zen a liar. With his amazing JAV knowledge, I just imagined he would be getting more, if even I could pick out a good several.)
Sometimes the actress pages would open up with DMM or another vendor's link to a movie, which must indicate that was the movie the ladies have been nominated for. Then again, some of the pages had no such links. Some pages, such as with Ayu Sakurai...
(I only wanted to show off this shot, because I thought it was mighty nice of
Ms. Sakurai to show off the Stars and Stripes. Looks like a shoot in Los Angeles.)
... An actress I only know by name, and would have had no idea what she looked like, pointed to MKMP-022. So it must have been her performance in that movie where she is getting evaluated for the porn awards. On the other hand, Mio Kayama's link pointed to MIRD-151, a group vehicle where Mio shares the stage with three other contenders. If MIRD-151 is the movie Mio is getting evaluated on, it seems off-kilter, because she is not the star of the show... and this is like balancing a leading lady against a "supporting actress."
So these porn awards seem pretty inconsistent! Which leads me to my major point (fasten them seat belts)...
I only came to know the aforementioned actress, Mio Kayama, from a movie I spotlighted on a recent thread I created similar to this one, in terms of being the "Best Actress"... but specifically in the case of actresses who come across as special while playing damsel-in-distress roles. There have been plenty of "What's Your Favorite?" threads on Akiba-Online, and I wondered what the criteria was, here.
I have a feeling the main criterion is how appealing the woman is to our eyes. But that has nothing to do with a lady who is being singled out for being an "actress."
Naturally, this is porn, so what a lady looks like can't be ignored. But just to give an example, two of our members above made references to Yui Hatano. (Yui Hatano is a name I've come across a million times, but I would never be able to physically identify her.) Well, on the recent thread of mine that I have mentioned, Member Kessari wrote, to my amusement, that "Yui is real pretty and with a great body (dun flame me Yui fans), but other than that, she (is) practically a vase in a movie." So at least one of us does not think much of Yui's acting ability, and given the extremely insightful comments Kessari has made about another actress, my instincts would be to value his opinion.
In other words, the singling out of Yui (not just by a few of us Akiba'ers, but also by the Japan porn award show) as a noteworthy performer seems like only her good looks are being stressed. Well, that ain't right. So what I'm going to suggest is, the folks who are kindly participating in this thread ought to take more trouble to explain exactly what makes their pick, or picks, so wonderful as an actress. After all, you don't want to be as phony-baloney as Japan's porn award show, do you?

in MIRD-151 Moodyz put all stars cast, but unfortunately only reserve gangbang action, without big orgy 4 vs 4 or more
1. Ayumi Shinoda - put out a lot of material this year but there's never been a dip in performance. She's pound for pound the most alluring and consistent performer.
2. Chitose Saegusa - Yay for BBWs! Phenomenal performer who put out a LOT of quality material this year. She tried interracial AND anal - performed wonderfully - so she gets special recognition from me.
3. Yui Hatano - probably most improved actress. She's really becoming more commanding and the fact that she does cum-in-mouth BJs these days is pretty cool for an A-Lister.
4. Kaho Kasumi - pretty much the same as Ayumi, but overall I think Ayumi is a better performer, especially when it comes to BJs

I think they are similarities between them : quite famous & have a lot of fans, Iori has long exclusive contract with SOD while Tsubasa with Idea Pocket, and they can do more hardcore action if move to another big company like Moodyz

Best actress of the year....i probably pick Ayane Suzukawa (涼川絢音) over Yuu Kawakami and Kaoru Fueki.
She has done some masterpieces this year and looks like if she was a veteran, i am surprised how good actress and beautiful she is, a good example is AVOP-155

Chitose Saegusa, hands down. She is all i have been interested in this year. Perfect fat on her body. When she is riding she has the best camera angle so that her boobs bounce just in the right way.
