Thanks for this upload. From your description of the plot this seems to hold hope for being a wryly comedic bit of fun. I'm a cold weather cowboy, I worked on ranches of both high latitude and high altitude. Cowboys don't have a lot of indoor work to do, and the places I worked were infamous for the bad weather, especially cold and wet weather they could throw at you on any given day. There were days when you just did not feel up to going out in the cold, snow, rain, and/or wind. Besides the horses did not like it very much either and they always had a hump in their back on those mornings. On the bad weather mornings the hands would always try to "play the coffeepot" for a few extra minutes or even and hour or two to let the weather break or else resign ourselves to getting cold, wet, and miserable. We would usually all get together with the boss, foreman, manager, or owner in the cookhouse, bunkhouse kitchen or his office (depending on which was available on whatever ranch I worked) to report on the activities of the previous day and get lined out for the upcoming one. On the really bad days none of us wanted to go out, not even the boss, but eventually he would have to remind us that we were being paid to work not drink coffee. The key to our strategy was to keep the boss interested in staying inside as long as possible and for that to work we had to entertain him and do it well. On most mornings we discussed the work and the upcoming jobs, mostly matter of fact stuff, but on the bad ones we would adopt a different strategy and swap longer more convoluted stories. These were in fact "windies", stories that were told as if they were strictly true but in fact had some combination of the whole cloth of truth coupled to an embroidery of lies chosen to enhance their value as entertainment. We never tried to listen to another man's story for clues as to truth or fiction, it was the ability of the yarn to hold our interest and especially the interest of the boss that gave value to the tale. Some of the best windies were pretty much woven from cloth with only a little embroidery added and some had very little cloth and were mostly embroidery like the doilies that grandma used to knit to cover her furniture and absorb any spilled coffee, beer, or whiskey, when we grandsons would come visiting.

Cowboys can be harsh critics of a bad yarn. If you are riding out into a storm on a horse that has his ears laid down on his neck and his back arched seeming to be looking for the nastiest bit of sagebrush or rockpile into which to throw you, with six or seven other cowboys who feel that the story that you were telling had so little entertainment value that the boss remembered that it was a work day much too early, then you would understand the resolve that you would make to tell a more interesting story next time. With over 40 years of this behind me, I know that I have learned to appreciate a good yarn. If it has a certain amount of low humor, and wry twists to the plot then it has some of the elements of the windie that I have learned to appreciate most, and from your summary I think there is a good chance that this is such a story. I look forward to viewing it with anticipation and I want to thank you for bringing it to my attention and uploading it so that I could enjoy it.
