The general consensus here seems to be that "average" looking male actors in JAV are unattractive. The interesting thing about this complaint however is that no real physical flaws are being described in this thread! These actors aren't disliked because they are too fat or too skinny, but merely because they are "average". Why is this? Does this mean that a Japanese male who is not a "super-stud" is considered to be unattractive by default? Do they all need a gym membership and a bottle of hairspray to be considered attractive (at least as JAV actors)?

I think that there are many qualities about Japanese males that make even "average" looking actors in JAV both attractive and sexy. I submit that this ultimately settles depending on what kind of a viewer you are.
If you're the voyeur type watching a JAV as if it was a television newscast, then you're concentrating on the female. You might even prefer that no male appears in the scene with her. :virtuous:
