I always thought that I was verbose in order to make sure that I covered all ground. Apparantly not. In the Movie Details page for a given title you can manually enter an actress or multiple actress names. I have found a lot of peculiarities with this section because sometimes the actress list will show a thumbnail of the actress. Sometimes not though even though if you doubleclick on the little icon that contains the name in text it will bring up a face shot so for some reason the program only seems to correlate the thumb with the face shot some of the time. I have experimented trying to understand this and sometimes if you put the actress name in Western order First (English) name First and Last (English Name) Last IE Nanami Nanase and not Nanase Nanami. However even this doesn't always work so I have tried to find other solutions. YOu mentioned some of the compexities with various permutations of names and nomenclature so I was trying to find a solution to the manually entered names and the resulting thumbnail list rather than a text list under the actress name section. One partial solution , which is what I was alluding to , is that if you enter nanami nanase or nanase nanami neither will result in a thumb being shown in the list unless the First and Last names are capitalized. This does not always work btw but it is a partial solution. Ultimately these issues are insignificant but I prefer to have the image list of actresses rather than the text list. Here is another example. Kudo Lala is sometimes named Kudo Rara, Lara Kudo, Lara Kudou, Rara Kudou, Ran Kudo, Lala Kudou . if the scraped database has named her anything but "Kudo Lala" Nothing else will show that thumbnail but if you try to manually enter the correct spelling sometimes it will link to the thumbnail and sometimes not. In some cases Using capitals has helped but not always. In any case, like I already said, these are trivial issues but since I've begun doing a lot of data-entry for various scraping issues I thought that someone else doing this would want to know about making sure that the names were capitalized.. Cheers.

From my experience using JavLuv, I think this has been solved by TmpGuy using the feature of "alternate names" in the actress detail view. You can insert all the different name of the actresses, and JavLuv will find the corelation with those name. I often use this quite often if I found some different actress names. Maybe you can also create the decapitalize name in that field also.

No, not really, sorry. JavLuv assumes you're managing a single global database.

Technically, that's because all the program settings are stored in a pre-determined location, like C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\JavLuv. You can actually swap these settings out by swapping out folders (I do this for testing sometimes), but it's not something I really recommend in most cases.

Can I ask why you want different databases? It sometimes helps to understand the specific use case.

Hi, back again. So I've been working on filling in the blanks in the actress profile pics, and one of my ideas came back to me.

Something I would like - it's really just an indulgence, not a make or break issue - would be to have multiple, switchable profile pics available.

I always struggle with choosing just the right profile pic - one that really captures the essence of the actress, and most importantly gives me instant, on-sight familiarity, as I'm perusing through the titles.

Lately I tend to pick a crop from a cover of a film that I know well, and tend to immediately identify strongly with an actress.

However, in the beginning, I had this really dirty penchant for having each profile pic be a screenshot of each actress as nude as possible - waist up boobs at least, full body if possible. If none of that was available, I'd settle for as sexy and/or revealing a costume or pose as I could find. Having a wall of topless beauties, sorted in a favorite order, was really something hot to see.

So finally, the thought occurred to me, what I *really* want is BOTH of those pics!

Would it be possible to make the profile pic a "clickable" image, or some sort of thing? So it could switch from one image to another? This could either be per-actress switch (preferable), or all of them at once, if it had to be.

Your thoughts?

Not to belabor a point, but how many are we talking here? I've got over 5K movies, and I don't find it too hard to manage. Is there anything in particular that the program could do better to help manage things? Just curious.

You can already add as many actress images as you like. With multiple images, you can hover over the actress image on the left and right edges of the images and click to cycle through them. All thumbnail images will then use that image. Right-click to manage the images.

There isn't a great way to do this. You can sort of fake it by making sure the settings folders are synced, but it's not really officially advised or supported. It's on the to-do task list, as it makes a lot of sense to be able to access the DB from multiple computers.

I'd like to reimport those, but I wouldn't want to overwrite any that I've added in the meantime. Is there a way to do this in bulk, or just I add them in via the program one at a time? Actress images are assigned a random ID as it's filename, so if the associated local XML file is lost, there
is really no way to recover them. So unfortunately, you'd need to identify them visually and import them one at a time.

At some point, I'd like to add functionality to export and import all metadata in a more portable way. That would be useful for backups, as well as providing a way of exchanging data with others.

the one db is around 12k and there is another for 2k and there is anothher 2 HDD that I did not add to there yet so total in 20K I think
I think the big advancement would be a custom collection based on some used to define criteria such as genre, and series etc display it is a tab just as all movies and actresses would be the best

I keep my JAV sorted in folders by genre of my own taste, so like "schoolgirl", "cuckold", "nurse", etc. Then I multiply those folders and qualify them with refinements, "cuckold - husband watching", "schoolgirl - teacher seduce", etc

Using JAVLUV, I can then search for folders (I think by using the "/" prefix?) for any of those folder names, and/or the modifiers.

By typing in "/schoolgirl" I see all my schoolgirl genre titles, same with "/nurse - handjob" etc. It works really well. Of course, this means I must constantly be making and adding to genre folders, which is a Herculean task. But, I look at it as part of the fun and hobby aspect of collecting JAV.

I stopped trying to categorize everything into folders and I now just have folders labelled A-Z. Any files that I want to make sure that I find with a search I append the names with important search data, like Gokkun or a particular actress name.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm hoping to someday make collections a bit more flexible, so it should be possible to do that (separate databases, multiple network clients, etc), but it's going to be a bit clumsy with the current version.

I see your point there. Sometimes I forget that others may have different modus operandi than I. For me there are only a few keywords that I would bother to manually add to a filename, mostly a specific actress name or with files that I know are not going to be discovered by javluv scrapes I may add "gokkun" , or "banana juggling" but generally the descriptor words that scraping provides are adequit for my particular peccadillos so I haven't run into a long filename issue however someone that had a wide spectrum of 'kinks', if one could call banana juggling a kink, may indeed run into that problem/ Cheers.

YES !!, I do it this way as well and if you add file to luvJjav you can search it by that sufix name already because it it part of the name very convenient but hard work renaming files

yes I do simular just with filenames ... it is still very hard to find something particular you watch long time ago
