Right, what he suggests will get you the title in a TS container that you'll have to use ffmpeg to then demux. It's just that he stated it was needed but then didn't explain why.

Thanks. That was well-written and informative.
At the moment I'm still using DMM with a VPN, but I can only purchase points with PayPal. Once that option goes I'll have nowhere left.
Thankfully, at the moment, GIGA is still fully-functional and accepting foreign credit cards. I'd buy more there, it's just their content is super expensive. Thankfully, at the moment, the Aussie dollar is strong against the Yen, but it won't stay that way for long.

How about video quality? It's not like screen capture quality right? I hope it's as good as javf.h-era.org video quality. I already ask their team if they accept DRM removal service but they busy with their collection also.
video quality will be 1080p or whatever res you set it to

So a couple of questions:

R18 was a great source of information. DMM/Fanza is entirely in Japanese. What are the best alternatives in English?

For example Javlibrary has a more complete list of titles than even R18 does but there is no series tag like on DMM or R18. If you like a theme it's much harder to find on javlibrary whereas on R18 you could find a video that you like and quickly see there's an entire series like "my girlfriend's sister tempts me" by OPPAI or something.

And

R18 had the image search functionality where you could upload an image and it would try to match to a JAV actress or video. Does DMM or anywhere else have this functionality?

I noticed Google moved from image search to Lens and the results are usually sparse. It feels like the technology has gotten much worse or they have now hidden it in preparation of releasing it as a paid software or something. I don't understand how it has gotten so bad. Maybe it's just me doing something wrong and not caring enough to go digging.

At least for chrome based browsers there are apps that let you use the old google image seach instead of lens. Still not great at actually finding images though.

Screen capture is always the worst quality.

"R18 has been a major part of the industry for the nine years that they've been operating. While they might only be a small slice of the pie when you look at the western and domestic industries combined, R18 has been all some fans in the western side know. It's also been a big rallying location that has brought a lot of people together. People scouring the internet for whatever pittance of JAV they can find doesn't compare to when you finally discover R18 and what an incredible site it was. Full length videos from the manufacturer? English translated names and titles? As a western fan of JAV I don't know if I would even be here without how incredibly useful R18 has been for me. Being able to actually navigate what was out there, discover new content, and simply being able to understand everything was such a blessing."

This paragraph really sums it up for me - A fitting tribute to an outstanding site - Thank You for writing this piece.

I discovered Akiba and Zenra thanks to R18. I still recall having a DMM account and being helped through the switchover by their reps, who took great pains to advise me correctly.

Disgusting to see this outcome due to the relevant factors at play, and I just cannot get over that part of the equation.

Losing my library is one thing. Seeing a site that I absolutely love come under attack and fold in this manner is another matter entirely.

Sorry - not a support group, I know, but damn this is soo messed up.

I used R18 mostly to get correct translations of JAV titles and Actress names, I only bought a few movies.

Does anybody know of another site that has proper English titles for current JAV movies? Places like Javlibrary use machine translations and they tend to suck, so I really liked how R18 actually had somebody who clearly knew English and Japanese to do the translations.

Bing Image Search and Tineye are also decent options.

Google Hacking Johnny Long Highlights Presentation
Google Advanced Search Operators
OSINT Search Tools (Including Image Search Tools if you scroll down)

I know you were only speaking about image search in relation to DMM, but above links might be generally helpful elsewhere so included in that regard.

What I remember about the site:
Low-quality videos, just disgusting
Creating a bunch of versions of the same video, for 1080p they made 5 resolutions of WMV with DRM and 5 MP4 for streaming, 10 fucking versions of the same video! Why the fuck did you spend so much time on this, why do you keep it all on your servers??? Make 3 MP4 resolutions and that's it.
Promote DRM and your own player. What the fuck I need this shit for?
It's good that trash like this is dying.

FFMPEG is required for YouTubeDL to work
Awesome method, have tested it once at it works like a charm. Quality is consistent with the original.

Need some help though, I have around 1k vids that I'd like to not lose but I also don't want to manually run the CMD prompts each time. I've tried searching for ways to queue up vids and I've found some bat files that seem to work well ( https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/comments/p68uwb ) but the bat files don't work when I use that format.

Do you have any tips on how to load them all up?

It's not a screenshot its a link to a reddit post where someone else was trying to queue up videos to download with yt downloader. The method should work in theory but I am having a tough time getting it to work.

Yikes, sorry, I guess I clicked on the link in there and it took me to that imgur image. I see now. Do you mind sharing how you're creating your batch file? You can PM me if you'd rather.
