Some of these aren't mistranslations, just words that are used more or less frequently in different languages.

Piston: The thrust-and-pull of penetrative sex resembles the motion of a piston in a cylinder.

Squirrel: I'll need an example video title to be sure, but if 'squirrel' リス [risu] paired with the word 'chestnut' クリ [kuri] then those words together are pronounced the same as "clitoris" (クリトリス kuritorisu). It's not uncommon to try and trick someone in to saying 'clitoris' by making them talk about squirrels and nuts.

Phimosis: Medical condition where the glans is partially or fully covered by the foreskin even when erect. Not uncommon in Japan, like many genital irregularities it's still got a stigma attached to it.

Po: Occurs when the Japanese title censors the word [chinpo] for 'penis' by putting a blank or circle between letters as such: チ〇ポ.

Crab: Need a source.

Pan: Need a source.

Muchimuchi: not a mistranslation but a failure to translate. This is gitaigo again, a semi-onomatopoeic expression, for someone who's got some fat on them. Not yet BBW territory, but definitely squeezable.

Deriheru: Abbreviation of "delivery health", the Japanese version of a call girl. "Health" is a term applied to various types of paid sexual service; when you get a girl sent to an agreed upon location, usually a hotel that the girl's managers have approved (but occasionally one's home), that's a delivery health.

Intercrural: "Between the legs". Just another case of the translator looking for an exact term and happening upon an obscure but legitimate English word.

Thanks for your help. I rather like "muchimuchi" as a reference to a curvy woman. Reminds me of the Spanish word mucho.

I assumed "piston" was a reference to especially vigorous sex, not just intercourse in general?

Phimosis having that meaning - wow that is odd this word appears in like 300 titles.

Squirrel is particularly common, comes up in over 1000 titles.

BAB-066 Gyaru "Men's Is Really KISS Irama Raw Squirrel And Then Demon Feeling SP Handjob And Pocket Money Is Okay"

AVSA-206 Super Close-up Close-up Brown Reverse Bunny But Erotic Bitch Huge Breasts Plump Squirrel Crazy Kaho Imai

Crab in 250 titles.

HUNTB-302 "If You Don't Want To Put It Inside, Pull It Out W" Her Best Friend Seduces Me With A Super-small Devil Yariman Girl! In Addition, Vaginal Cum Shot Is Forced With Crab Scissors Lock! Best Friend (virgin) Gives Her

IENF-216 If I Was Mischievous By My Sleeping Schoolgirl's Sister, I Was Asked For Raw Squirrel, And Although I Was About To Shoot It, I Was Locked By Crab Scissors And I Could Not Escape And Vaginal Cum Shot As It Was! 7

NHDTB-630 Nipple Men's Specialty Spider Este 2 That Is Blamed And Impatient With Crab Crotch

That second is another example of squirrel as well.

Pan I'm not sure where I got that from but the search result is too large since it is contained in too many words.

Can I ask about this word "gal?" I have "black gal" in the glossary as a "tan girl" but it's more specific than that, isn't it? While "black" means tan in that context, the word gal is more specific than "girl." It has a tag on javlibrary and when you click the tag it shows lots of girls with mostly blonde or red hair, dressed as party girls, more glammed up than typical JAV girls, and often shown in urban settings like they're out on the town. They look...western?

Minor diversion here. But do you know why "Chaoyang" appears with Mizuno so often? I thought it was a prior name for her, but javlibrary lists her only as Asahi Mizuno with no prior names. Then I thought it was a translation error, but then I saw someone identify her that way on this board. Google translates Chaoyang as Chaoyang, so it looks like a proper name.
Chaoyang = Asahi (朝陽), if you read the characters as though they're Chinese instead of Japanese. 朝=asa=Chao 陽=hi=yang

'Piston' is a byword for extra vigorous sex, yes. I suppose a synonym could be "Pounding".

Looks like 'squirrel' in all those cases is a mistranslation of ハメ [hame], just like 'saddle' was. Does it make sense? No. But the algorithm doesn't know meanings. It just associates words with other words. Somehow when the AI was being trained, it got that correlation reinforced incorrectly, and it's too late to correct it now.

'Crab' has two usage cases in those citations. #1 & #2 'Crab Scissors' refers to the woman locking the man's pelvis in with her legs, as though grasping him with pincers. Crab isn't the only trickster here, it's a mistranslation of ばさみ [basami] as 'scissors', too; it's a form of the verb 挟む [hasamu], a transitive verb meaning "to squeeze or to press between two things". (The word for 'scissors' [hasami] is related to that verb, but that doesn't apply here.)

The other use of 'crab' in #3 is ガニ股 [ganimata], refering to how a person whose legs are spread out and bowed at the knees slightly resembles a crab walking.
002_o.jpg

You might as well think of 'gal' ギャル as not even English anymore. It's firmly in the realm of wasei-eigo, a word that means something in Japanese largely independent of its original meaning. The results you get looking at the 'gal' tag are as much an illustration of its true meaning as you could ask for. Gals are the loud girls who wear too much makeup, usually don't have a lot of money, hang out in/around clubs, and hook up with the type of guy who has spiky hair and a wallet chain. The stereotypical JAV 'gal' will think of sex as a quick good time, without thinking about consequences or responsibility. (That's why creampies are very prevalent in gal JAV.) Gals are also frequently portrayed as promiscuous runaways, hooking up with men just for a place to stay. They are typically, but not necessarily, over-tanned - sometimes there are 'white gal' girls who act the part without the bronzer.

Po: Occurs when the Japanese title censors the word [chinpo] for 'penis' by putting a blank or circle between letters as such: チ〇ポ.

Pan: Need a source.
ちんぽ or チンポ pronounced chinpo is penis, or dick. It can be used as either standard or rude word. However for broadcast it is often treated as rude, so it's often printed as チ〇ポ, a double disguise, normally it should be hiragana, as it's native Japanese (not Chinese nor Western loanword) but styling as katakana is a kind of emphasis or naughty marker, and replacing the soft sound ん 'n' with the censored mark circle, it's super obvious to all native Japanese but throw a wrench in the translation machine. It's often translated as "chi po" or "chi" or "po". Either chi チ or po ポ is just a sound, don't automatically assume it means penis or anything. Look for the complete "チ〇ポ" or hearing the word "chinpo" to confirm it's the penis. As it's slightly rude, there are many variation, one is ちんこ or チンコ chinko... which can really mess things up.

まんこ or マンコ pronounced manko is cunt. Sometimes おまんこ omanko. It's a rude word. Similar to above, usually appear as マ〇コ, which got translated as "ma ko" or "ma" or "ko". Again look for the full text マ〇コ or hear the work manko to be sure. ma マ or ko コ itself means nothing.

I suspect some appearance of "man" if it's マン might be another censored or broken version of マンコ. Any suggestions?

"pan" means so many different things in Japanese, most likely translation for general use would be bread, as a French loanword.

In JAV "pan" I think it's likely a broken piece possibly from パイパン or パンツ.

パンツ pantsu is from a English loanword pants. But unlike English normal use of the word, パンツ means shorts or hotpants. But that's for general use. In JAV パンツ is a different English loanword panty, female underwear.

パイパン paipan means lack of public hair, technically it can be applied for both man or woman. But in practice (JAV) it's almost always shaved pussy. パイパン's word origin is complete different from パンツ. パイパン is derived from kanji 白板 (pronounced the same paipan) a particular tile in Mahjong, literally "white plank".

Thanks. Since you seem to know the Japanese word for "cunt" I have a question. So I was editing a sub file which appears to be a raw autosub, and it contains both the English words "cunt" and "pussy." Since the autotranslation software is going to translate a given Japanese word the same way every time, I have to assume there is one Japanese word best translated as "cunt" while another is best translated as "pussy." But there isn't much difference between the two in English, except one is profane while ther other is vulgar, borderline profane. There's also the scientific word which is vulva, but no one ever uses that. So are there actually two profane/vulgar words to describe this part of the female anatomy or not? I'm wondering if maybe what I thought was an autosub was lightly edited.

Thanks for the linguistic breakdown. I expect most times you get a floating [po] in an autotranslated title, you can indeed assume it was supposed to be a dick. But if you have counterexamples, those would be important to cite.

"pan" means so many different things in Japanese, most likely translation for general use would be bread, as a French loanword.

The 'bread' translation hilariously shows up a lot, sometimes even mixed with the correct translation. For example, this title translates [paipan] as "shaved bread", and this one takes the abbreviation for 'short pants' and calls it 'show bread'!

You've also got the 'pita bread' that OP brought up, coming from ピタパン [pita pan] in many titles. [pita] is the part that means 'tight-fitting', and [pan] is for the pants they're wearing (notably in this case it almost never means panties, but outerwear)

As for the occasions where [pan] shows up on its own, I am finding a number of titles where that is associated with a one or another types of panties. This is because when they write a word for whatever type of panties, it'll be written as the descriptor+[pan] (for 'panties'). Some examples:
panties with a hole cut out [ana pan] 穴パン
panties with a printed pattern (serendipitously translated as 'pan handle') [gara pan] 柄パン
striped panties [shima pan] 縞パン (favored by cosplayers).

And there is the exception which tests the rule: [G-pan] [G pan] Gパン or [ji-pan] ジーパン which is a play on denim 'jeans' since jeans is pronounced like the letter G -- this is the exception since it's outerwear referenced, and not underwear.

There is also the inverse order [pan-moro] パンモロ. First there was [pan-chira] パンチラ, where 'panties' is combined with an onomatopoeia [chira] (or [chirachira]) to imply 'a quick reveal'. [panchira] is thus 'panty flashing'. [pan-moro] built on that concept, but [moro] means 'wholly' or 'completely'. Thus [pan-moro] is not 'panty flashing' but 'completely visible panties'.

It's also worth listing 'panst', which is someone's best attempt at anglicizing [pansuto] パンスト the abbreviation for 'panty stocking'.

Sorry, did try to point you in the right direction but didn't leave a link, so this Wikipedia entry for gyaru should help. Straight transliteration of "gal" by the way.

Not so much a thing these days, more of a 90s and aughts fashion subculture at this point. My favorite JAV actress dabbling in the style 10 years ago was RUMIKA. She was gorgeous IMO.

Thinking back ten years ago when I started with JAV, didn't know what "gal" meant, but I liked Moka a lot.

moka-9.jpg

She did quite a few titles with Aika, and some with Rumika. I'm seeing a pattern here, with these "gals" having single names. But this title with Moka and Rumika has the lamest box cover ever. Seriously?

Titled "grandpa sleep." Yeah sure, that guy is the reason people would want to see that because everyone tunes into porn for the decrepit octogenarians. I mean, gorgeous women with amazing bodies are OK, but what really does it for me is liver spots.

OK while I may have people's attention, I have four more.

Bing or bing bing
There are over 1000 titles with this.

LZWM-036 Chikubian 4 Bing Bing Nipple Kneading Lesbian Fuck

CJOD-335 Nipple Bing Dosukebe Customer Service Snack Mama Thick After Morning Creampie Affair JULIA (Blu-ray Disc)

It seems to always occur with the word "nipple" so that is a good clue.

Next up is "hen." This was a tough one because of the way javlibrary's search engines works. I had to weed it from words like "then" "when" and "Hentai." But there 100's of them.

YMDD-284 Blogger GAL PARK Ass Hole Paradise Alice Hen G-PARK Kisarazu Cat's Gal Blonde Fair-skinned Mild Yankee Gal Fashionably Coordinates Creampie Anal Sex! !! Screaming Screaming Big Injection By Inserting 3 Holes At The Same Time! !! Butt Hole Hikuhiku & Saliva Paradise! !! Otsu Alice

LOL that one is GAL, anal, tentacle porn. Weeee!

DGG-014 Hen - Female Teacher Experience Confession Fifth

Next one is "s-class." No idea what could possibly translate to that, but it's in 700 titles.

NXG-380 S-Class Mature Woman Best Selection Nature Bare 1 Night 2 Days Affair Trip Yumi Kazama Miwako Yamamoto 180 Minutes

I thought it had to do with mature women, but apparently it's a body type?

SKSK-031 Raw Bunny Girl Of S-class BODY Beauty Himari Hanazawa & Echika Akai

Last is "yariman" with over 600 titles. This first one also has "crab" and "small devil" so it may contain three glossary terms.

KATU-098 Nipple Bottle Bottle Dosukebe Snack Mama Black Gal Bitch Big Ass Yariman Slut

I thought it was a transliteration like "dosokebe" which google says means "dirty." But "yariman" translates as "yariman" so I'm stumped. Pretty sure it means "slut" though. It just seems familiar.

Slut would be the best translation in the porn context for sure (branbran726 mentioned it earlier under "Man").

Translation services seem to fail when it's all katakana like in HUNTB-302 (ヤリマン) but work with hiragana (やりまん). Weird, because as slang I'm not surprised that it's in the former.

Yeah I thought it meant slut, but that titles says "yaraman slut" which is redundant.

Ooh, just thought of one that might crop up.

Absolute Area / Absolute Territory
This is from 絶対領域, "zettai ryōiki". Refers to the bare skin between the top of thigh high socks and a miniskirt/shorts.

Yup, that's legit. About 200 entries for those. Though the photos suggest that it's either thigh high socks or thigh high nylons.

The translation for ビンビン (binbin) which gets translated as bing or bing bing in those titles is: hard (e.g. penis), strong (e.g. beat of music), throbbing (e.g. headache), blaring (e.g. rock music)
Looks like in porn it is the first meaning so bing bing nipples are hard (or erect) nipples.

As for hen, in DGG-014 it comes from 女教師編 Jokyōshi-hen which means female teacher edition. The full movie title is experience confession 5 - female teacher edition. Other parts of the series have similar things, DGG-002 which is the second part has OL編 (OL-hen) in the title because it's the office ladies edition.
YMDS-284 is part of a series which has titles that include アリス編 Arisu-hen and ノゾミ編 Nozomi-hen, so the edition with Alice and the edition with Nozomi.
So in both listed examples hen is edition (or maybe episode is a better translation in this case as edition is used more for books than videos in English)

絶対領域 should only be translated as "Absolute Territory" because it's a meme evolved (somehow) from "AT Field" from Evangelion. A.T. Field -> (English) Absolute Territory -> kanji 絶対領域, so when translated (back) into English it must be Absolute Territory (not "area" or "zone" or any other legit translation of 領域)

As for the meaning, the precise defintion is bare-skin thighs below short skirt (not shorts/hot pants/panty/nude) and above the above-knee (but not higher) stockings, note that if the knees are also exposed it doesn't count as Absolute Territory, somehow some flavor is lost. Because it's a meme if you are doing subtitle or translation, I suggest "absolute territory" should be used, if you take the extra step of adding "bare thighs" it's gonna ruin the meme/pun.
