How come few JAV have English subtitles

I agree with this statement... k:

In my opinion it would be a great plus to have subtitles at least in the movies have some plot. And it is not needed if there are no content in the dialogues or no dialogues at all.

On a side note, this should put to rest the notion that all JAV is just oohs and aahs.

I am working on another JAV at the moment. A part of the deal that Desioner and I worked out is that I am responsible for the timecoding of the video. This takes a bit of time and I have other reponsibilities that take priority, so the work goes slowly. I am about 30 minutes in to a 2 hour video and will have some time this week to make more progress. Hopefully I get things wrapped up soon and Desioner has time in his schedule for the translation.

I would like to contribute too but coding subtitles is too much work for me. I have only just found out the chinese have a tonne of subbed JAVs, and I currently own several of them. If tortex or anyone would like to produce subtitles I can provide translations =)

i will say it again with so much slang and some other worlds like. here or hear. and words to, too, or two. all being said same way but being spelled another way. its hard to take one lanuge make it subtitles when each lanuge have some much slang other meanings.

It is funny to see that the moment someone starts to work on subs all kind of request are made. andalaugh: I guess there is really a demand for subs.

Maybe it would be nice to give some feedback to Tortex and Desioner. What do you think about the timing, the quality of the translation, the position of the subtitles and so on.

Unfortunately I haven't watched it yet, so I can't give a feedback yet.

I would like to say "You are welcome" to all those that have thanked or expressed appreciation for the sub-titles. All of that really goes to Desioner because like I mentioned he made a mutually beneficial deal available and did really great work on the subs.

There were a few posts I wanted to respond to...

(1) Regarding the post about how translations are hard because of difference in language and expressions... I respectfully disagree with this. The fact is translations are made and judging by the majority of feedback have been well received. I do believe the translation is an art form and as such if you have 3 people subbing the same JAV you'll get three different versions. But, they won't be radically different and the general idea will come through. And for us non-Japanese speaking viewers it greatly enhances the viewing experience.

(2) In response to people "volunteering" to sub JAV... It is rare to find volunteers to sub JAV. In the anime world it appears to be very different. For a few years I was waiting volunteers and nothing happened. Maybe a random scene or in some cases a full JAV but I would still classify it as rare. For the one that I provided I commissioned it. Desioner presented a deal and we were able to work out some terms and that's how the subs I posted got done. It would be great if we could somehow get a sub community for JAV going. I don't mind timecoding to do my part but I still need someone willing to translate. Since I am commissioning the subs I am going to pick the titles I am most interested in. My hope is that others will be interested in those as well. I don't know if anybody else is interested in commissioning subs... if you are I would recommend reaching out to Desioner and see what terms you can work out.

(3) Requests... As in the above since I am commissioning the subs and making an effort to timecode I will continue to pick titles that are what I want. Hopefully they are of interest to you. SOE-339 if not my all-time favorite it is Top 2 for me. I am working on SDMT-272 now and am about half way done with time-coding. The last hour should go much faster because there is more action, less dialog in the beginning. It probably sounds selfish but I hope everybody understands why.

(4) Feedback on the subs... I can't speak for Desioner but I don't mind hearing feedback on the subs. In this effort my goal is to make things as easier for Desioner as possible. I am trying to give him time-code so he just has to translate. I don't want to make too many "requests" or "demands" on formatting because for me the translation is the most important part. I downloaded Aegisub which is what I believe Desioner is using... any of us can learn to use that and then manipulate the formatting of the .ass file to format the file to our own tastes. One format won't satisfy everyone. And for me I am completely happy with the subs Desioner did. I guess it is a long way of saying "Yes, I am interested in feedback" but "I can't promise any changes" based on the feedback.

Another thing to consider, especially with this first one, my timecoding wasn't all that great so there maybe "drops" (dialog with no translation) because of how I did the time coding. In some cases, like the bathtube scene, it is hard to even hear the dialog because of the splashing water so there may be gaps. In some cases where a phrase that was previously translated I might not have had it re-translated later. And in other cases it maybe a phrase that really doesn't have a direct translation. That being said SOE-339 is pretty complete so please keep those things in mind when providing feedback.

I hope that answers some of the questions or posts. After tera-bytes of downloading I am happy to finally give something back and am really pleased that it has been well received. As long as the deal between Desioner and myself continues to be mutually beneficial I'll keep commissioning subs. They probably won't come out quickly because of the work involved but I'll keep trying to get them out there.

Possibly RBD-202 or SACE-051. SOE-339 and SDMT-272 were priorities for me after that I don't necessarily feel as strongly.

I went through all the pages here and people hinted at this "stash" of subs but it didn't look like they directly linked to it.

I hope the direct link is OK. I tried to check this forums rules and even in this thread I saw links to other places so I have assumed that is OK to do.

Anyways... the Tsunami7 subs are quite good. There are like 4 or 5 full movies and then 2 or 3 single scenes. And it looks like several of the forum members on that board also did some "quality control."

I was able to find several (if not all) of the JAV downloads to go with the subs here: http://tdarkangel.com/ They are all RyuShare as well.

There were also a torrent for Nao Oikawa - Teacher Nao that was subbed. If anybody knows of a direct download via RyuShare for that one can you please PM me?

Really appreciate what your doing here. I recently too had the idea of putting subtitles on some of my JAV. But I'm a noob, even though I previously manage to sub the entire Jyouou Virgin drama (I am echocustomz for those of you who dl that drama sub at d-addicts). I know from experience that it takes time if you don't have the right software. But I just recently experimenting with yrz008 from the chinese sub movie, but i won't publish it that as the chinese sub movie isn't the full movie, so it's pointless to have a half-sub movie. My real work will be is jufd118, but it will be sub from the 1080p files. So if anyone is interested in that film, download the 1080p movie. Subs will arrive soon.

Looking forward to it. Do you know if I can find those 1080p files here for JUFD-118 or should I look elsewhere?

It would be great if we could get a community of people to start producing subs.
