Hi,

I've been wondering, does somebody know what happend to that site? I always came there along with akiba but for the past few weeks it seems to be completely down.

I'm sorry if this isnt the right sub forum but I couldnt really decide the best place to put this.

JavTalk is closed, probably for ever. The owner and ISP of JavTalk (asianscreens.com) received a threatening letter over copyright issues. Rather than solve the problem the owner did nothing and the ISP just shut down the site. Prior to that closure of JavTalk the ministrator of the site quit because he had been told there would not be any copyright issues. When there were it seems he must have panicked. So that's it....end of an era!

Wow...:nooo: :defeat: :abandoned2:

Hmm that sucks. I thought they just had software issues or whatever because I did one day see a message for a short while ''It works!'' so I thought maybe they are updating or something.

I liked how they had lots of stuff in a single post, made it a bit easier to browse compared to akiba with so much new theards everyday.

Somebody knows a good alternative?

Good info and sad to hear that. Btw, how did you become privy to that information??? :puzzled:

I never liked how (a) the torrents from javtalk.com never worked half the time (I'm not entirely sure why and (b) if you just happened to ask for the wrong thing b/c you were new, you could instantly get banned for a certain amount of time.

It didn't seem very chill at the time, but they did have tons of stuff. Too bad, I hadn't realized it had closed.

Kind of reminds me of purejapan.com. Great site until it seemed to change to a paid format only.

Hummm, well I occasionally would get a torrent that was very slow and rarely one that did not work, but certainly not half the time.
JAVtalk was the source of all of the torrents I posted on Akiba. I enjoyed giving details and posting pics of the videos that I considered exceptional.

I find that hard to believe. Did you innocently ask a question or did you maybe ask for content that was not allowed or on the "do not post" list.

I call BS on upallnight's claims. I dl'd hundreds of torrents from JAVtalk. 2 or 3 ever didn't work.

Except for being an spambot or posting child porn, there was no way to get an immediate ban. First infraction was ALWAYS a PM warning. You had to get two infractions to get a 15 day posting suspension. Only 5-10 people (out of 250,000) a year ever got to that level. And if a mod skipped an infraction the paid board admin would jump their ass.

For JT and AST refugees, a few new boards after formed recently:

javelite - It's new but the moderation team is part-JT and part-AST admins. It's backed by someone with resources to support it over the long haul.

javforum.net - Formed by some ex-JAVtalk members. It has the most posting momentum.

javbb.com/forum - This is BananaBoy's personal forum. However, he is also a mod on the above two (as am I).

I like javforum, its very similar to javtalk, some promising new forums rising, good work :moe:
