@ra
Its funny, I'm trying the 90 day no fap challenge and going to these forum is a form of edging. Are you saying that r18 doesn't work any more for anything?

I can still play the files in my library... at least those I've tried. But as the situation is currently I'm screwed on new purchases. R18 says they can't process CC from the US, Korea, or China. That includes me... I've not been able to use a CC for many months so I used the points system. Then just today I see this...

Points announcement
Due to our administrative reasons, The option to charge points has been disabled. At the same time, 1% bonus points back when paying with credit card campaign has ended. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

They don't mention if it's a temporary situation or if it's permanent. Also, they don't offer any other options of payment. So as I couldn't use CC I'd change points via CC using PP and then use my points for purchases. I did that a few times in recent months. However, now that is not an option so I and everyone else in the US, Korea, and China are screwed and can't make new purchases of content. This and their recent deletion of tons of content on their site without warning or notice really sucks. In the past, if they were ending a license agreement with a studio they'd let you know and offer a sale on the brand so people could pick up stuff before the deadline. But not this time. This time it all just disappeared one day. I've been a loyal R18 customer for over five years and have a fair few files in my library but this current state of affairs now has it all up in the air.

Are there any other options than R18 for purchasing JAV if you dont have a Japanese card or the Lawson/etc methods? If they are going to purge everything or make it so you can't even buy anything, it would be nice if there were alternatives out there

This is a government firewall. You should use a VPN or try with HTTPS in latest version of Firefox.
It's not a problem accessing the site. It's R18's problem in fucking over their customers by failing to keep things stable on their financial end. I've used VPNs for years and can get where I need to be. I can access the R18 site with no trouble. The billing troubles are the issue and that is all on R18 and their failure to provide alternatives to huge numbers of customers.

I just purchased DMM Points going directly to DMM.
it seems the only thing r18 did is remove the links from their site but you can still go to DMM, purchase points and then use them in r18
That is good news.... I'll try that out later today. Any link to that page by chance?

Of course they're not going to put workarounds on their website, then the people that made them change things would also see it.

I'm having good browsing experience with R18, But still you need improve it. for example:
the movie label show no info when I point it & need to open in more new tabs, In there you can add floating window which contains basic info like title, actress name, code, series, cost, etc,. & 'sort by' need more options to sort. In full info page Digi. gallery is not enough you can add screenshot Hide/Show.
It will give best browsing experience.

Now, I'm unable to purchase event using dmm points. What happen?

They cutoff the DMM loop as well - I have resorted to using AMEX in the meantime.

Whatever the issue is, this is hurting them big time as consumers tend to move along path of least resistance, and might substitute other websites that provide similar services. Hate to see that happen, as I have been using DMM/R18 for many years now, and for all those years I have been a very happy client of theirs. Still am, despite their troubles and related minor inconvenience.

I am far more concerned about the large volume of titles/labels being pulled from catalog. On a positive note, some of the titles they discontinued appeared back in catalog for whatever reason, but the overall balance is to the negative. Not a good trend.

One thing I wish they tweak is their library filtering.

I have a very large library and would appreciate being able to search using more than one parameter at a time. For instance, I should be able to add "Creampie" and "Bukkake" to the filter in order to display all titles that contain both "Creampie" and "Bukkake" tags.

That being said, I am happy they introduced filtering recently and it functions well as is.

R18 has removed a lot of studios recently. The rumor is any JAV that has "non-consent" themes has been removed removed from Western markets due to new laws. You can still find them on DMM, though. I don't know if they'll remove them from there.

It sucks. R18 is the only option for collectors of JAV to buy most AV's legally. Without it, most bukkake/fetish stuff will be lost.

I read about that too, but I question that as the singular root cause. There is plenty of freely available "non-consent" porn still being produced/sold in the west, and that is not slowing down.

The way I read the landscape is that it has more to do with licensing costs and the split.

Some of this is the fallout of those absurd provisions that allow actresses to pull their own titles from circulation if they so choose. I still can't believe that was allowed to happen. The risk/reward for producers now is frightfully lopsided and I fear we are only starting to see the repercussions.

Didn't mean to veer off topic, but I share your concern about the outcome, whatever the cause.

They just stopped accepting credit cards AND shut down new registrations. Can only purchase 7 day rental of titles.

I really hope this is temporary, because it looks suspiciously like a wind-down or something to that effect.

Very depressing.

I hope they at least let me redownload my purchases if I need to.

I suspect Western NGO involvement. They are becoming very bothersome in the last 2 years. I expect Akiba will be a target eventually.
