With the production and sale of idol material including av,idol, and junior idol being big business in Japan will the new child porn laws cause problems for the people of that nation?

The major law defining what child pornography is was passed in 1999. The new law deals mainly with punishment for those who distribute or supply such material although some redefinition is also being sought.

Junior idol material is the only 'risky material' so to speak, but even in Japan, its not a mainstream liking. The new laws will therefore probably not "cause problems for the people of that nation" Japan.

Apparently even punishing people who possess(as opposed to making or distributing) child pornography is still under debate, and a study on banning lolicon hentai is supposed to last till 2011. So there's 2 years to stock up on loli at least.

Uhh... what?

You must be excluding the ACTUAL child porn that's sold in Akiba. I can point out three shops that sell porn -WITH- children, and I'm not talking about women who look young and that are running around in a swimsuit either, I mean full-on penetration and even advertising as 11, 12 and 13 year olds.

It's fine to say "well the idol stuff will have more regulation" but when it comes to it, I'm quite sure this law is mainly aimed at the real child porn out there, as North Americans might know it.

Yes I meant risky without being outright illegal. If its illegal there's no need to worry about the legality of your materials, you're clearly breaking the law. It is only when the definition is unclear that material falls into a gray area.

As I pointed out earlier, the definition of child pornography has not been substantially changed by this law. Material that was legal under the 1999 law will still be legal until they change the definition. Idol goods may get tamer due to preemptive measure from publishers, but if there is no legal requirement to reduce the sexuality of the product, I don't expect there to be any significant difference.

so until 2011 we can still collect loli ?

Hopefully they will wait until then to make the decision on lolicon hentai. It's not a decision that the government can make lightly because of the huge industry in lolicon material. Especially taking into account recent instability in Japan's political arena, the political party that takes a hardline stance and pisses off a lot of voters may suffer significantly.

Of course, a substantial shock or series of shocks can provide the impetus to create a drastic change. Then lolicons will just have to collect illegally.
