Hello mina-san, :hi:

for animes, hentais and dramas there are a lot of different subbing groups. But in my while JAV fan life, I only saw one JAV with subtitle (I can't remember which one, but when I find it, I will write a post).

Maybe some of you will say that there is no need for subs. But sometimes I think it would be nice to have some, especially if the movie has a little bit of a story (I mean a little bit more than showing the actress, 4 sex scenes and that's all).

Are there any subbing groups out there? Do you know some pages where you can download subtitles?

That's not JAV to begin with.
Pink movies have subtitles, hardcore JAV movies don't.

^There only like one or two JAV that had subtitles. Most people prefer sub Hentai because there more dialogues.

Subtitled JAV is indeed hard to find. I've inquired at a few places and I have even offered to pay for someones time to subtitle some of my favorite titles but no luck so far.

This scene was posted in another thread before:

http://xhamster.com/movies/466701/sora_aoi_subtitled.html

That was the one that did it for me. The scene itself is good but getting and understanding of what was said just took it over the top for me.

There is another guy that focuses on the incest/game show genre. His stuff can be found here:

It would be great if there was more. Or if anybody has a suggestion on how to find people that have the skills to do the subtitles let me know.

But I can't imagine that it is harder to subtitle a JAV as it is to subtitle a hentai. I guess the used vocabulary must be pretty much the same, isn't it? :puzzled:

Hentai episodes are only a few compared to the weekly flood of JAV. It is humanely possible to watch all of them as they are released. They are typically 30 mn long, which is also rather short (I guess JAV are between 1 and 2h). Last but not least, this is anime, which may interest a different category of people.

^Yeah there only few hentai releases each month maybe like 10 different episodes as seen on getchu. Also, everyone have different interest in different AV models so is so hard to find sub them all.

Hm, there are also a lot of J-Dramas. Of course not all are subbed. But at least some - also I don't know which pattern these subbing groups are following. Maybe they sub the dramas which are they most interested in. Or maybe they get requests from the community and decide based on that which dramas they are subbing and which not.

My impression... and it is kind of limited... is that those with the skill to sub like to sub the genres they are interested in.

I attempted to contact the guy that subbed that Sora Aoi clip but never heard back. I offered to compensate him for his time/effort.

I did have an exchange of e-mails with the guy that does the incest/game show and offered similar compensation. He asked for the video I wanted to have subbed so he could see if it would appeal to his audience but I never heard back.

It seems like those that sub do so freely for the genres they are interested in.

I don't know how to find people that have the skill and time. If I did I wouldn't mind working out some kind of deal. It takes time to listen, transcribe, translate/interpret, and subtitle so I wouldn't ask anyone to do it for free.

I may see if can find a student at a local college that if fluent in both Japanese and English because understanding what is being said... for some JAV because some are just straight sex and there isn't much to be said... but for a handful of titles understanding what is being said makes the viewing experience much better.

If anybody knows of anyone have them PM me. Please.

You mean Gonzo? I have to admit that I don't like that genre very much. It is too boring.

But I'm surprised that there are even people out there who would pay for subtitles. I never would.

Maybe it is also a problem of the attention the subber are getting. For drama and anime there is a huge plattform for them to get some (like AniDB or D-Addicts). But for JAV there isn't - at least I don't know any.

I watched a few of his movies. The quality of them is very low and they also have watermarks from the program he used. Now I'm really thinking about creating some soft-subtitle files (e.g. srt) based on his hardsubs. Of couse, if I would do that, I would mentioned him as the original author. I think that goes without saying.

Just so you guys know, like half the stuff translated is BS.
I think the guy just subs what stuff that he "thinks" is being said due to the situation.
I'm no way fluent in Japanese, but I know a phrase here and there and some of
the subtitles he puts on are no where near what is actually being said.

Opacity posted a link to a subbed JAV title here. Can someone say anything about the quality of the translation?
