The point is only for it not to be the same file. A different container(mp4 for example), but the same stuff inside would be just as bad as the same file and the same container(mkv) with a different encode(let's say, for example, a smaller version or one without the dmm watermark) would be perfectly fine.

You can encode to MKV, WMV, or whatever you want. All it means is don't rip off or re-upload Yipman's files in their original format for 7 days. Anyone else can still contribute whatever vids they want.

For example, you can upload vids Yipman posted like ISD-182 and JL-05 as long as they're not Yipman's original files. You can post MKV or WMV encodes but they have to be your original encode.

However, I am under the impression the 7-day rule does not apply to re-encodes of Yipman's files. I may be wrong in my understanding, though.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Wouldn't the new rule also apply to your uploads as well?

As far as I know the rule applies to first uploader and not just to Yipman. Maybe I misunderstood.

Anyhow, I know there is a huge eco-system surrounding akiba-online and I tend to appreciate uploaders like Yipman who go out of their ways to add new videos into the system more than those who just upload duplicates although I know availability will suffer without the secondary groups' help.

Anyway, I believe balance will be restored over time. It's the way eco-systems work.

The new rule is only for yipman for now since it was the most obvious problem(at least that's my reasoning).

The details are being discussed between the mods, but they're not all there at the same time so it takes time and mihiiro knows it. He's just too impatient to wait for an answer.
