I hate watermarks. They're distracting and take a lot of enjoyment away from watching the videos. I've got to the point of NOT downloading any movies containing watermarks, unless I like the movies so much I don't have a choice.

Regardless I hope 7898789 will continue to share with us. His postings are consistently high in quality.

I heard enough of all your senior that have said. To be uploader like 7898789, has to make sure whatever he uploaded movie to satisfy all downloaders to senior like you guys and those complainers who are using it to profit. ( Which could be one of your senior.)

I've read so many posts that I almost got a headache. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, that's fine, but the bottom line is that the original poster/owner don't mind other people to re-post their "creation", as long as they don't alter it. Post it in its original content.
I know this for a fact because I've been posting for about 10 years and most of the times I re-post other people's stuff and have had conversations with a few of them and they all said the same thing. Go ahead and re-post it, but don't change the file in any way.
I agree. It's not illegal, but as a sign of respect for the original ripper/poster, should not be done.

About watermarks, that's perfectly understandable, but these days we're seeing more and more huge file of poor quality so altering them to reduce the size is often necessary.

I don't mind watermarks, as long as they are not too intrusive...I mean, are the watermarks overlapping with the even more intrusive censorship pixelation that, strangely, no one seems to care about? Are they obscuring close-up nipple shots?

Even if they're not intrusive, they can be distracting. We've lived long enough with pixelization that we ended up accepting it as normal since there's no way it's going to change.

If you don't like watermarks, then don't download and go buy the DVDs, and please stop complaining.

Which brings me to one of the point I've been trying to make: You have to know the watermark's there to avoid downloading it.

It hasn't been my experience with the only one I remember to have downloaded from him(VICD-248) which is starved for bitrate, but since the bitrate match what's available on renting website for full HD videos, I guess he bought it there so I blame the company and not him.
He seem to put some work in his post and I respect him a lot for that.

Those 2 are less distracting(still distracting, but not as much) because they blend in with the rest of the image better than text.

You're starting to overreact a little. We'll wait if we have to, we're just having a discussion about it to try and understand each other's point of view and to see if we can reach a compromise that would satisfy most(you will never satisfy everyone).

All uploaders deserve our respect, but the point about what the downloaders want being important is that uploaders do it for them for no other reason than spreading joy around the world(unless it's for profit, but I doubt that's the case of 7898789).
What would be the point of having a forum with only uploaders and nobody to download the movies?
Uploaders and downloaders have a symbiotic relation where one won't exist long without the other and both are equally important.

Not sure where you got the keep silent after the longest discussion this thread as ever had.

This is a forum, so I think give an opinion is part of the spirit of it.

  The thing of the watermark, was not directed at anyone in particular if not the fact of using a watermark.

  Get upset because someone takes something that is being shared on the network and share it again with some changes, it seems unprofitable to emotional and mental level to me. Always someone with good or bad intentions, to give others something that might not otherwise have, to make money, or recognition, that person may change some of the first object, the original.

Those who created that thing I understand that they bother.

Here's an example. Some time ago I edited raw scan comics. I took hours and days, clean each page, join those who needed it, try to do justice to the original comic. After complete the "work" i placed a sheet with an image representing the scanner and me. So you could take that sheet put in the end of the scan and delete it.

  I care that everyone knew who did this scan? No.
I did it for people like me, with no access to that comic, so they could read and hopefully those who could, buy it.

  They were not my comics, were the work of someone else I could not attribute to any right by the process of editing the scans. So I never put marks on each sheet, or on the cover, like others do.

But neither judge that if they do. It is their way of seeing the situation. If something bothers them and for that reason cease to share whatever, is their right. I wish them well and thank you for what you shared. If not enough to know that they approached something distant for some people, they are also in their right to feel that is not enough, and quit.

Upload, share, download is a choice not an obligation.

I don't mind at all the watermarks on 7898789 videos.
Watermarks are small, at the bottom of the screen, barely noticeable.
7898789 makes his own rips, of very rare movies that are absolutely nowhere else on internet, he uploads the videos on fast servers to share his treasure with us... still some people are complaining!
If you don't like watermarks, then don't download and go buy the DVDs, and please stop complaining.

this is a bit over the top, but your point is taken, I have discussed, the possibilities of banning watermarks many times, we are on the verge of banning them, now if you have to post with a watermark, why not just add a few seconds at the start and at the end, that way nobody complains

While we're on the topic of watermarks, but to move away from the vitriol, banning watermarks seems like a huge, drastic move. It's a nice idea, having no watermarks, but I'm afraid banning vids with watermarks would discourage some from sharing and limit what could be shared. Would it only apply to new vids or also to re-uploads of vids previously posted on Akiba? Or if I found a watermarked vid that had never been uploaded here, I wouldn't be able to post it here.

Banning watermarks seems like you'll get yourself a big, fat, messy, wailing baby. Instead, how about requiring all uploaders to say whether a vid has a watermark or not like SamKook suggests? Yes, it may require re-uploaders a bit more work to go through the vids and check for the sporadic watermarks, but it seems like a happy balance to me.

Or maybe guidelines can be set for watermarks so that they're unobtrusive. Like placement, maximum size, stationary, transparency, etc. I think these choices would be better than banning all together.

I've lurked on this forum for years. Normally I am content to quietly leach, but I think we need a reality check. All the movies being posted here are the ripped-off intellectual property of the film production companies. It seems ridiculous to me for someone to act like a film belongs to them simply because they rip a DVD and stick a watermark on it. It's even more ridiculous to get angry because someone stole "your property" by removing your watermark and reposting it. We are all engaged in the piracy of intellectual property, so nobody should get on their high horse.

I started putting up the watermark on the 23/7.

Before that, no watermark HD movie. (I love high quality movie. And want to share the best possible to all).

I have no objection to those who make my file smaller and upload to share.

Understand there are members who prefer to have smaller file size.

The only thing that i cant stand is those who took credit from me and resell for profit. (Understand in reality is not easy to stop this)

But after i have a chat with the reupload and reseller. I have 2 thought in my mind:-

1) Never share, no sharing means no one will take credit from my upload.

2) From then, i put up the watermark so that can identify those con reseller who took the credit.

I chose the second.

Why i didnt have the watermark from beginning till end is,

for those who are reselling my movie, sure will try to take away the watermark ,

but if its appear on and off it is difficult to clear all.

BUT the fact has proven me wrong.

Professional who intend to earn profit from this free upload i put up can still find a way to wipe off the watermark.

This has make me helpless and sad.

I selfishly thought,

when i bought the movie , taken time to decode dmm and put up watermark then upload.

Those downloader who spend little time to download shouldnt have complain the watermark.

At least benefit of free movie has been provided.

Or be the first to see the new movie title.

If another version without watermark in future ,

then can choose to delete this and download the new one .

BUT i fogot .....

There are others who realised after downloading my movie that it has watermark( not perfect)...

downloading time spend is like wasting their time....

The only thing that i cant stand is those who took credit from me and resell for profit. (Understand in reality is not easy to stop this)

But after i have a chat with the reupload and reseller. I have 2 thought in my mind:-

1) Never share, no sharing means no one will take credit from my upload.

2) From then, i put up the watermark so that can identify those con reseller who took the credit.

I chose the second.

Why i didnt have the watermark from beginning till end is,

for those who are reselling my movie, sure will try to take away the watermark ,

but if its appear on and off it is difficult to clear all.

BUT the fact has proven me wrong.

Professional who intend to earn profit from this free upload i put up can still find a way to wipe off the watermark.

This has make me helpless and sad.

I selfishly thought,

when i bought the movie , taken time to decode dmm and put up watermark then upload.

Those downloader who spend little time to download shouldnt have complain the watermark.

At least benefit of free movie has been provided.

Or be the first to see the new movie title.

If another version without watermark in future ,

then can choose to delete this and download the new one .

BUT i fogot .....

There are others who realised after downloading my movie that it has watermark( not perfect)...

downloading time spend is like wasting their time....

the problem with watermarks it effects the quality of the film, and in this case, it goes through the process of being engineered at least 4 times,

That was only one uploader process that required 4 encodes to add them.
As far as I know, it can't be done in less than 2 with the crappy tools available to remove DRM.
But if the source doesn't contain DRM, it can be done in a single encode. Meaning that if I decided to add watermarks to my encode which are all from DVD ISO, the quality would be exactly the same.
But it's true that every encodes affects quality in a bad way(unless it's done in a lossless way, but that's not the case here with the available tools)

Sadly some of the senior with high standard of viewing pleasure will not download your movie. Good for them. (anyway, everyone can claim to be higher standard than other, but are they really not gonna watch? No one knows even they did. Lol.....)

I somehow feel targeted by this reply. lol.
I will have to download some of his watermarked uploads though since he posted ANND-111 so the collector in me has to complete the series and be able to provide reuploads for it if the links ever go down.



7898789: It's very kind of you to have added the warning.

The problems with watermark is that to be effective(meaning almost impossible to remove without trace), they have to be intrusive.
The best place to put them without bothering the normal user who will watch your video are:
-During the title since you can put it in solid text in the middle of the screen and make it match with the colors of the title.
-During a transition between two scene where you can once again put it anywhere in the screen.
-During the end credits since you can also put it anywhere.
-By adding a section of video at the beginning or at the end of the movie so that you don't interfere with the actual video.

You can also make it move during any of those to make it very hard to remove properly.

If I had to add watermarks to a video, that's the way I would do it and it would be ok for my "high standard of viewing pleasure" as someone else puts it.
The only problem is that not all JAV encodes contain the first 3 and any non essential scenes like those can be simply cut out in a new version.

It's sad that you seem to have chosen to stop posting since even though they may not voice it, I'm sure the majority really appreciate your efforts and all the video you share with us.
