Recycle Threads

Do we need them? People are posting with questions or PMing about broken links, presumably because searches or tags are leading them into the recycle threads without them knowing it. Can the recycle threads be pruned (or at least have the tags removed)?

Yea, I don't want to get rid of them yet because people could revive them (in theory...)

Tags are disabled, but the tag system doesn't allow for mass tag removal within the php interface. This means the tags are still in the tag cloud.

I've put the question up to the tag system developers here

If it's possible it will be done.

If not, then the recycle threads will all just be purged.

Chances are people won't bother reviving them so they'll be purged anyway.

Still, want to get rid of the tag cloud litter...

it was right to get rid of them, especially the Jr ones in plain view to non members, but boy, people have dropped a lot of posts/thanks! Poor TopScorer...

wait- he's got 0 posts and 4,294,967,278 thanks!!!! Thats most of the world's population! :puzzled:

It's just a 4 byte variable that somehow got into negative and reset at the highest possible number..
Well, not exactly the highest, but since 4294967278 is FFFFFFEE in hex, it's very likely something like that happened.
