Plot:
Close to retirement, prolific Nikkatsu studios pinku eiga director Chusei Sone had clearly lost his enthusiasm for the genre by the time of this lackadaisical softcore melodrama. Standup comic Yasuko Haru and Natsuko Yamamoto lead the cast in a somnambulent story of greedy thirtysomethings whose sexual needs are fulfilled without romance or ceremony, and who never know real passion. It's a rather dreary topic to begin with, although a director with something to say on the subject, such as Hisayasu Sato, might have made it interesting. As it is, Sone phones it in, and his lack of passion combined with that of the characters make for a stultifying combination. Sone would make only one more pinku eiga, Furin, and it is more reminiscent of the director at his best, but audiences would have to wait two more years before he summoned enough enthusiasm to make it (Robert Firsching).
