Unfortunately, that’s not the case. It is specifically the WebP files that aren't displaying. Could my system be missing something? I could convert everything to JPG, but I can't figure out why I'm the one having this problem. I'm running a Windows build from 2023.

The 2023 build may be the issue Mirroslav. Tbh I just don't know. LIke I said I have no problems with .webp files, I have tons of them across multiple folders and multiple drives without any issue. The stable version of .webp has been around since around 2018 so my perspective is that this should not be the issue but on the other side of the coin you could search for all .webp files and convert them en-masse if you want to go that route. Before you do that though, maybe send a PM to Tmpguy (the developer) and see if he has encountered this problem. Sorry that I can't help you Mirroslav but I'm stumped.

I also discovered a critical issue. The browser deleted my censored movies and kept only the versions that had been converted to the uncensored format. I foolishly agreed to this when updating the database; I thought it would just update the file paths, but it turns out it deletes the actual file and keeps only one version of the movie. It’s a shame I lost so many films.

Krikey, that's a pain. sorry to hear that. I know about losing files, don't get me started. I was trying to figure out what you selected in Javluv to cause this and I can't see what option you chose. When you said "browser" I thought that you meant Javluv. IN any case. that's a drag about your files. I've been losing files for Years, my most recent loss was a 18TB drive and I lost everything. The plus side is now you can go back and dl it all again but you can free up some space by not bothering to dl a bunch of files that you don't actually want. That's the glass is half full perspective.

I’ve had success with the Webp file format displaying. When I’m missing a cover photo, I check where the file information should reside. For instance E:New Folder/New Files. I then go to JavDatabase, find the JAV and copy the image to that folder. I then right click to add new art and select the saved image file. Hope that helps.

How it works is deletes the lesser resolution videos and lesser bitrate and the Uncensored ones tend to be bigger and upscaled. A lesson learned for you but a painful one ofc.

From that log, looks like javluv has trouble connecting to all the scraping sites since they all give this warning "Internal browser parsing timeout. Retrying." but github was fine so it's not your connection.

That's likely the cloudflare protection stopping the sites from loading so going to the sites from the log(javlib, javseen, javdatabases) manually in a browser and making sure it loads before starting a scan should help.

If not, then this would be the culprit "Error : Unable to initialize WebView2 control." and maybe you're missing a dependency or something, I wouldn't know about that part of it, but I would imagine it managed to get around that error or it wouldn't start the actual scraping.

I have yes, I haven't used a vpn/proxy. Also don't have the webview error

I'm going to be pretty busy with life (earning a living comes first, after all), but I'll try to make a bit of time to help with any issues people are experiencing. As for future directions of JavLav, it will be in maintenance mode a bit longer, I think, as I can't commit any significant time to the project.


For the more distant future, though... I've been learning a new cross-platform UI library (Avalonia), so I've been considering starting on a new cross-platform version of JavLuv and modernizing the entire codebase. Are people interested in a Mac and Linux version? What about other platforms, like web or mobile? I still haven't made any decisions about if or when I'd do this, but I thought I'd at least get some feedback.

My picture of TmpGuy is not of a dude sitting at his PC, munching on cheetos and laser-focused, night and day, on developing the worlds most perfectomongous JAV file manager. My picture is more mundane. A dude slogging to work in the morning, picking up the kids after school, making sandwich, and maybe getting laid now and then. Once in a while, when you are really REALLY bored, you think, oh hey, there's that program I was working on, maybe I'll dig it out of the everything drawer and dust it off. Then , after a few minutes of that you say, fuck this, I need a sandwich. And back into the drawer goes lovely lovely Ludwig Van filemanager until the next moment, and I do mean moment, of half-assed inspiration. And you know what TmpGuy. That is perfectly ok with me because every time I light that puppy up I am filled with appreciation for this software. Sure there are moments when I say, I wish it had this or that but those things are just little extras. The program, just as it is, is fantastic and if I've not already expressed it. Thank you.
