MINIMUM titles are really pushing it. Japan AV may seem like "anything goes", but there are some levels of lolita content that presses against the boundaries too much. This one seems to have gotten approval by one of the ethics companies, but it's possible it was rescinded or DMM (who owns MINIMUM) was receiving a lot of flack for it. If you go their site now, you'll see most new releases have moved back towards women who aren't near midgets and flat on both ends.

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with this though I'd imagine if an actress seriously wanted her title pulled, she'd have to pay up the production costs at the very least and possibly buy up the rights to the video (though I don't think it goes that far as many actresses aren't the brightest bulbs).

you know i was thinking about this kind of thing and i was wondering just how much does it cost to shoot, edit, pay the performers and ship the blu-ray's or dvd's to market? Whats the profit margin for the big JAV and US porn makers? Why do i what to know? Well, two reasons, one to know how much would it really cost to stop filming and/or pull vids from the market and two how much to the big players in JAV make a year just from the jav work? We all know that a lot of jav stars are whoring on the side and some of them were whores to begin with and were scouted from the pink salons and the like in tokyo. I think that most of the money is made by the studios and holding company's that make, shoot and ship the shit. So when we talk about cuttting the shoots and pulling the vids whats the costs? And i'm sure the the girls are getting utterly fucked when it come to getting payed but whats the avg pay really look like? Could a star really have the money to get shit pulled? I know in the west the girls get proper fucked and the owners make out like fucking bandits.

I think 8 out of 10 of the JAV girls are dumb as a door nail if they had any smarts they would not perform in jav they would produce it. I mean why else would you make a living on your back?

Profit margins are a good question and it really varies from studio to studio and title to title for both western and Japanese companies so it's hard to answer.

Most top tier AV stars are not 'whoring on the side'. Some did do brothel work first, but you'd be surprised at how many were just regular women with zero adult experience before deciding on doing AV.

IMO, the richest people in this industry are the CEO's of the modeling agencies and also the CEO's of big online marketplaces too. Famous AV stars make a lot of money and hopefully most don't waste it, but that's an individual issue.

Anyway, your last comment about 'living on your back' was a bit harsh, no? Not all of them are stupid. Far from it actually.

I don't know if this counts but I've come across some titles that have been "reworked". These are usually from the studio "Real Works". Take REAL-213 with Saotome Yuu for example. That title's runtime is 150 minutes. Then it got "reworked" and released as RWRK-213 with a runtime of 72 minutes. So I guess they just a removed a bit more than half of the title and then released it again for whatever reason. Now I couldn't find either of them online but here are the covers:
