hi all,

an idea of creating a community website with members showcasing their collection came across my mind some other day, and i would like to have you all enlighten me...

1. collection => JAV or what-so-ever, any suggestion?
2. trade => members can trade their collection
3. rate => members can rate the others collection

if there is such a website (if there are some already existed, please tell me?), would you participate in it?

should it be free or charged? how much will it be comfortable for you to pay?

thanks in advance for your feedback!

:please:

You could try to pattern your site after this one as much as possible. But then why do that when you can just come here instead.

There's a site sort of like that, but for anime. The community is free there, and so is every feature. If I joined a site like what you are talking about making, I honestly wouldn't pay anything for it. If I did pay for something, $10 for a year is the most I'd be willing to pay for anything on a site like that.

Anyway, if you made a site like that, I'd probably participate, but I don't have much of a JAV collection myself, so I personally wouldn't have much to start out with. But I know alot of people would be interested in a place to show off their collections, and to talk and trade with other people.

:exhausted: Yes I strongly agree that we all may come to akiba for content that can be shared,
but what if it is some physically existing real stuffs that u have.
For example, maybe you have a collection of Sakura Aida's original IVs and suddenly you wanted to get rid all of them because you want have her AVs instead, so the way you get rid of them is either exchange or throw away.

Regarding the site you mentioned, would you mind sharing us the link?
If mod disallow link then please PM me. :please:
Also, I'm not talking about making money, just to make sure the site can sustain itself.
You know, if you want to make a website, a minimal requirement for the domain name and hosting service still has to be met, and both require money.
If some members are willing to pay $10 per year, I think the site could easily survive for years, without annoying my precious members with silly ads like shoot 5 iphones and etc. :joker:
Also, it's not necessarily JAV for sure, that's why I put it like this
=> 1. collection => JAV or what-so-ever, any suggestion?
It can be stamps, coins, IVs, and what-so-ever.
Members just showcase their collections, and you know, everything should have a price. Who know ur heart being shaken with some millions dollar offer and you would like to exchange with your full set of McD Hello Kitties. :pandalaugh:

First off Akiba-Online has a Request and Trade Subforum. Secondly nothing here cost our members a dime. That would go against the whole principle behind P2P sharing and filesharing in general. If you want to sell your car or your Playboy collection there are sites that have been doing that sort of thing for almost as long as the internet has been around, so you are a little "late to the gate" on that one.

Lastly if you do create a paysite do not advertise it here, (without clearing it with the staff first at least).

I'm sorry, but this thread is just dumb. Seems like once a week or so someone new comes in and suggests starting a new website that does essentially the same thing that is already going on here at Akiba-Online (my apologies Aqua2213). Nobody's going to run away from here and join some brand new, mostly empty site. Hang around here with us, xviva. I'm sure you can find all you're looking for.

Thread should be closed.

1) No one is interested in trading porn when there are so many sites that offer immediate downloads. This isn't the eighties, VHS and snail-mail are no longer part of the equation.

2) No one will pay for internet porn, unless you're offering original productions.

3) User ratings are stupid. Tons of internet sites have 5-star systems, thumbs-up/thumbs-down systems, etc. They all suck and nobody pays attention to them. If you have an editorial staff in charge of them, maybe they'll suck a little less. Collaborative filtering is a better way to give users an idea of 'quality', but it's extremely complex to implement.

Ceewan pls rest assure that i'm not here to advertise or something, although my id is like lurking for such a long period :joker:

Rollyco, ur right for all the points u voiced out. maybe only people like me who's from a rather technological backward remote location and can't afford for speedy connection would like to avoid downloading... :tea:

rubiks6, thx! i would too think that this thread should be closed for this depth of discussion :exhausted:

again, thanks all for your precious in-depth sharing. nice to meet you all. :hi:

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but if not, please either tell me so I can remove it, or one of the mods can feel free to take it down. this is for the anime collection site I was talking about.

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=main

They have pretty much everything ever, and it's user based, so if there's something missing, users can add what they know of. It's basically just there to keep track of what you've seen, what you want, and what you are watching right now. I know it's a little different than your idea, but it made me think of that site.

As far as the money thing, I know what you mean. The costs are a tough part of owning a site at first, but like you said, a few ads here and there help alot more than you'd think.

But yeah, a site for all kinds of collections would do better than just a small specific interest of collection. I hope the way I worded that makes sense.
