In Talk, Talk, Talk (Shaberedomo Shaberedomo, 2007), Mitsuba (Taichi Kokubun) is a struggling rakugo comic who still can’t seem to get crowds to laugh at anything he says, and yet his pride won’t allow him to give up. Even so, as the only guy around who’s actually studied the art of rakugo he becomes the unlikely teacher to three even less funny apprentices. There’s a somber, quiet girl (Karina), a loudmouth kid (Yuki Morinaga), and an ex-baseball player who can’t seem to complete a sentence coherently (Yutaka Matsushige). None of them begin with any sort of lofty aspirations, but as they continue their lessons they start to find their voices. Meanwhile, Mitsuba is preparing to give the performance of his life.
