I'm a bit new at this, but how do you load .ass subtitle files into a media file you want to view, I use mpc as my media viewer.

Thanks.

Make sure the .ass file is the same name as the media file you want to view it with. Then mpc will automatically load the subtitle file.

Example:
Accelerando ~Datenshi Sasayaki~ CONTENTS.1[in the cafe].avi
Accelerando ~Datenshi Sasayaki~ CONTENTS.1[in the cafe].ass

Still can't seem to get them to autoload, and if I try to load subtitles I get an error that reads:

To load subtitles you have change the video renderer type and reopen file.
-DirectShow: VMR7/VMR9 renderless or Haali's
-RealMedia: Special renderer for RealMedia, or open it through DirectShow
-Quicktime: DX7 or DX9 renderer for QuickTime
-ShockWave: n/a

I have both the files named the same, still no subtitles :sigh:

Then open mpc, type "o" to have the options, and go to output. Choose "VMR7 (renderless)" and save the settings. You should be able to load the subtitles now.
