Hi all-
Can anyone help!
Often whenever I try to access the forum I get a a message saying "page not found" and I get diverted to an adult porn search page. It can happen for days at a time. This is the first time I've been able to sign in here since before the weekend; today I can get in, tomorrow who knows. I thought there was a problem with the site, but it seems that the forum has been up and running ok so it's not akiba's fault.
I'm running on a Mac, and have tried four different browsers (Safari, IE, Opera and Firefox) and they all gave the same divert message.
Like I said today it's ok, but tomorrow..... :(
Anyone else had the same problem, or is it just me?? lol

Probably some automated ad crap again.
I'll check with chompy.
In the meantime, I recommend using adblock with the adblock filterset.g updater.

That's slightly worrying. Have you tried using adblock with a filterlist blocking the adbrite ads on the page?
I know adbrite target ads at people according to where they live (IP range) so perhaps someone targetting your range has added some malicious code into their recurring ad script...

Any more details or screenshots would be of great help.

I haven't had Egghead's problem
I haven't had Darthxeven's problem

But I've had the problem described by chompy. This happened 2-1 weeks before the 2month shutdown, so it may or may not still be coded in the ads...

Anyways... Im using Internet Explorer, I accidently had my security settings on medium, browsing through the threads and one of the flash-ads(not a pop-up) sent me to a site, and before I knew it & before I can ctrl+alt+delete, time slows, my cpu was "Ehhh Ehhh Ehh Ehhh Ehhhh Ehhh"-ing while the processor-light was strobing... which meant... script infection. I've had the same experiences with turboupload, gigeshare, stoptazmo, etc. in the past.

A couple of new icons appeared on my desktop, the usual "$19.95 anti-spyware" that may fix all the problems it made, some cowabunga thing, etc. I got rid of them(i think)... and now I try to always browse this site with full security settings---Which keeps the wolves at bay.

I'm just saying what I think chompy was saying had happened here, if it hadn't been addressed before. :dunno:

I think I'm in the same boat along with Egghead, don't have a screenshot but can somewhat describe it. The screen first goes white leaving only the top portion (banner) there, roughly taking up about 80 of the screen with ads, and on the top right corner, there is a button with "skip this ad" which is how I often get rid of it without closing the browser. Sometime I get a LOUD bitch telling me "Congratulation, you been selected....." blah blah can't remember the rest. She really creeps me out.

This happens to me almost on every forum I've been on. But usually happen once unless I close and open a new browser.

I've tried all the virus scan etc, ad block, adware, Hijackthis, but none seem to work, so I've given up. Chompy, when you say "malicous" exactly what do you mean, am I being FUBAR'ed?

Perhaps it's localized.
Maybe it only triggers for people of a specific IP range.
Since none of those programs detect anything, it's most likely just annoying ads.
Probably not malicious.
I don't know; I use adblock.

Oh...

yea that's called an interstitial ad, you've not been diverted, the "skip ad" removes the frame. They're only supposed to show up for people who don't block ads, and only a maximum of once every 24 hours.

I use IE internal adblock only, needless to say, its a POS.

Eggheads problem on video.

He sent me a video capture of whats happening to him. He says that it happens everyday that he tries to connect. I haven't experienced it myself. I'll get him the info here as he's still not able to connect.

Interesting..

a google got me http://www.discussnames.com/showthread.php?t=20068
Seems to have a similar/identical problem. Seems most likely (since the platforms and browsers are different) that it's an ISP DNS issue.

The forum's IP address is 67.159.26.89 and should be accessible (unaffected by DNS) if that is the reason.

Also the usual scan for spyware and use firefox+noscript advice just to ensure that isn't the problem.

I just watched the video file.....That is the exact same ad that I get when I have the problem i specified earlier...Its something called "clikm.com"or clckm.com...and will do this for a full day..Its not the same as the adbrite stuff...the adbrite only happens after your already on this site. However, that ad on your screenshot appears before you can connect to Akiba with "page not found" in the page tab[thats w/Firefox]....With IE,its simpley a "cannot display" message...thax for your time.:bow-pray:
