Do you think the success of a movie depends more on the actress and her ability to titillate, or on the director's input? For me, I think it is the idol that makes it memorable, but I would like to hear others chime in. Thanks.
Does anyone follow directors or care about that? Seems like almost everyone is just focused on what actresses are in a release, or what studio makes it.
I think a great director can save an unattractive or bad actress and still make an amazing film - and I think an amazingly hot/super talented actress can save a clueless director from making a terrible film.
If the girl is super hot - she can still arouse interest if the lighting is off, the script is shit, or the camera work is terrible. If the director is super talented - he will know how to arouse your interest in what would otherwise be a pass for a girl.
It's between those two poles that the real dynamic comes into play that (kind of) revolves around the original question.
A combination of them. Look up old classic attacker series. JAV story is basically the same. Once they found a selling point, they run with that until it drys out. Actress matters more because if she is a Natural beauty, its watchable regardless of how dumb the story is, it is porn afterall. If it's the same generic plastic beauty standard you see these days. It is a auto no for me.
