1080p versions of videos that didn't come out on Blu-ray?

Has anyone ever noticed this? When looking for JAV rips, I sometimes find a 1080p version of an older video that, as far as I can tell, never got a Blu-ray release, probably due to the age of the video. My first thought was someone has up-scaled the video, but the video looks far too crisp and clear for an upscale.

Has anyone ever noticed this? What's up with that?

Yeah, I've been replacing most of my collections with the 1080p or 720p versions out there. I think they've been coming out for the past two years or so...

Where are they coming from though? I'm pretty sure many of the older videos I see with HD version are too old to have been recorded in HD, let alone getting a Blu-ray re-release.
