try to re-encode it with your favorite program and see what happens. For a while I had a v03+ code problem that wouldnt allow any audio when I used my vlc player (KMplayer worked fine though). However when I encoded the video as an .mp4 it would play easily.

Also, check to see what other programs are running in the background. You might be having memory issues. Using msconfig and turning off non-essential programs helps a lot with memory issues. Also if you use CCleaner like me theres an option to disable some progams on startup which again helps...

VLC can play broken files too. At least the latest version does whenever I had a broken avi. I like the free Mplayer whenever VLC hiccups on me which is rare.
