JAV VR: News, comments about releases, recommendations, hardware

MSAA doesn't do anything to improve video quality. I recommend leaving it at 1. VR video quality is mostly limited by the actual video source (camera quality and video encoding), which you can't really control. Bumping up the HereSphere resolution or SteamVR resolution might help a little bit with noise from aliasing.

I'm surprised he said that, because I've tried several times to enable and disable MSAA in real time, and I notice an improvement. And I don't think it's placebo, because precisely it affects framerates, I've done several tests with different videos, on different days.
I notice more definition and less noise with MSAA on, and I remember it clearly in a comparison I did where the girl was wearing a patterned dress.

On the other hand, he also says that increasing the resolution improves “a little” the image, however, when I set the 2X resolution, I notice quite an improvement in definition and less noise. I guess it all depends on how sensitive you are to image alterations. I notice a big improvement with both.
 
MSAA is an anti-aliasing thing so if you upscale, it should do a noticeable difference, but not much if you don't.

With that said, I've done enough video stuff to learn that people are sensitive to different things when it comes to quality so what seems like nothing to someone can be a lot for another.

Thank you, that's what I think. I do upscale, because I apply 2X to the resolution, and then when I activate MSAA, I do notice an improvement. That's why I'm surprised by what the developer says.
Anyway I will ask him again directly, to see what he tells me.
 
Honnaka is releasing yet another special celebratory VR again like last year but this one is of proper length for having such a large cast - 276 mins. 4+ hours. Quite a stellar cast too as they even managed to persuade Kasui Jun to join in on the fun. Only problem is I've been checking out her recent 2D previews and I'm pretty certain she got implants. They're actually done quite well as her breasts jiggle around quite actively instead of being static mounds that are so typical of enhanced ones. But if you are (were?) a fan and you know what her breasts were like, its instantly noticeable - they were never that large or rounded.

I also spot Yayoi Mizuki in the roster which is also not someone I look forward to. I love that Ichika and Natsu have a 3P scene of their own but why does Ichika have pink hair? Ah well. I think I can live with that to have 2 of my fav gals together.

I would have totally been hyped about the tub scene with Kasui Jun, Kashiwagi Konatsu, and Waka Misono except...why did you have to do that yourself, Jun-chan?

Too crowded for my taste. This type of VRs loses the eroticism and ends up being a succession of mechanical sex, where the girls are lining up to get on top of you. It has never appealed to me. But hey, I appreciate Honaka doing something so ambitious in VR. Harems always tend to sell.

I'm done with Jun. Whether those plastic boobs are better or worse, mentally they're the only thing I'm going to see when I watch some VR of her, and I don't enjoy it. Luckily I already have “my” VR with her, the first one she did with Honnaka (HNVR-152 you mention), which is great, so that's something. Too bad... :(

To be fair, they are actually done quite well and jiggle rather realistically when she's in motion. Not at all static like say...Mori Hinako's. You have to be quite an expert on fake boobies to spot that they are enhanced.

If I wasn't already aware of what her original breasts looked like, if she looked like this at the start of her career, I would have been clueless myself.
 
How on earth does Zampa manage to be working with all the S-tier (looks-wise) girls these days? Turns out he's the director of Arata Arina's upcoming VR.

Oh dear, I sense some of you aren't going to like this. Myself, I like the rebellious maid theme although it does annoy me that she does not take off the bra in the first scene.

The problem is that I already know they are plastic.
It would be necessary to see the “missionary test”. None that I know of have passed it. When they lie on the bed face up, the breasts fall and then all the plastic is marked. Taking into account that it is also my favorite position....

It's a plague and an enigma, because it depends on the day he has. Some of these titles I really liked, they are very well shot, others have annoyed me to death.... Moe's, Ibuki's that isn't there, Ito's, he killed them all.
 
I think July is the vacation month in Japan, maybe that's why the VRs announced for this month are of desperate mediocrity.

I wanted to comment a couple of things about the last two VRs I bought (for this month I have the Saika Kawakita one left, and that's it).

I have to admit that I only bought 3DSVR-1783 because I wanted to write a reinvindicative review on A Festa about the lack of immersion of SOD VR movies, taking this one as a reference, which is very immersive. I was really looking forward to watching Chinami Natsuno, and the 8K quality of A Festa is a plus.
Chinami Natsuno impressed me, it's even more spectacular in VR, five centimeters from your face, than in video or photos. Not only she's gorgeous, but her body is spectacular.
I didn't like the movie itself. It's very immersive, but 70% of the footage is the actor touching a bathing suit. They leave the sex for the last 20 minutes, and the positions, while very immersive, are very short lived.
The most remarkable thing about this VR, besides Chinami Natsuno, is the image quality of the A Festa version. The 8K version at 80 Mbps is the best I've seen in recent times in JAV VR. Chinami's skin is not as perfect as it looks in the pictures, because you see even the pores of the skin, but it gives an extra realism. It's like having her in front of you, without the headset.

It's a shame the pigtails, she looks prettier with her hair down. I'm already sick of pigtails, they put them on many actresses to keep the hair from falling on the camera, but most of them look terrible.

For very different reasons, I also loved Akana Ito in KAVR-431.
Before I watched the VR I read the reviews on Fanza, and I was surprised that in the two that were there, they mentioned that they bought the movie because of the screaming and moaning Akana Ito throws in her movies.... I started to watch it... and it's true... :P Ito is quite expressive during sex, with many different gestures and moans quite erotic.
I love also her little tits, you hardly see them anymore in JAV VR.
The movie is great, very immersive with very good face to face scenes. But it's more and more recurring and it annoys me: it lasts almost two hours but the ass, which is also firm and tight, a cute ass, is only shown for like 5 seconds.... What you see in the screenshot, and that's all...

Special mention deserve the two close missionaries, which are a marvel because they are very well shot, and they are long. And the expressiveness of Akana Ito is a plus. 2Dxxxisdead, you will like them, there are some kisses in the middle of the action... And 35 Mbps.

But it's good that there are movies like this in VR, the medium needs more variety, since 90% of movies are clones of each other.

Eh, not just Saki. A good many girls, I would pay to see in VR gravure. Don't need the sex. Just do whatever they do in Rebecca or Fair&Way videos. But it seems only AirControl is starting to experiment with gravure in VR but only with non-AV girls.

Seing her in daylight in 'normal' places just hits differently. It felt like you really are on a date with her. The kiss in the end of this introduction and the build-up to it was also cute. Please more intros like this.

The sex scenes that followed on the other hand were nothing special and kinda boring to me. Not bad actually, but at this point I would've like her to act a little bit more towards the camera and it was super formulaic in the sense that I mostly knew which angle they would use next before it started. And I mean, Saika has the experience at this point after all the VRs but dosen't show it that much. She was super talkative on the date but as soon as she is naked she kinda turns into a pretty statue. Also weird that they started playing music in the misplaced shower segment.

You're right !! I like that too, it's very immersive. I have to check in my library, I'm sure I have some like this in the "DATE" category.
Unfortunately, many of these intro are blurry very often. I hate that. Probably for legal reasons but they should edit them... It's a waste of time

Thanks, nice find. Yes, Iori is super nice and this date with her in 3DSVR-1160 is one of the better ones I can remember with many different locations. Like you said they often blur everything but not it this title. Unfortuanetly here they have filmed the outside area with a 4k wearable camera. So the picture quality isn't the best but it gives more realism because the camera moves more naturally if done right. It's a matter of taste if you like the moving camera or not. If we include wearable cameras for the date part than 3DSVR-1566 is also great with Mizuki Aiga. The date part is much shorter but filmed with a improved 8k wearable camera

Edit: in other words that makes SIVR-427 stand out to me. Can't remember that they have ever done something like that with a 'static' camera in 8k with so many different outside locations.
