Dont't know about the DRM stuff, but with Win10 you need an h.265 codec to play the better quality GearVR JAV files. If you got a NVIDIA GPU, try lavfilters and codectweaktool for some HW acceleration.

Some GearVR file are smaller than the Smartphone version, is that normal? which one has the best quality?
