Dont't know about the DRM stuff, but with Win10 you need an h.265 codec to play the better quality GearVR JAV files. If you got a NVIDIA GPU, try lavfilters and codectweaktool for some HW acceleration.

I would bet they will add freeze moments since there is more to decode. Do you guys think the extra frames are really worth to sacrifice image quality because of the reencode? For me frame doubling with SVP could be a thing at playback time, that way no reencode is needed.
