情色鬼片《欲火焚琴》是任达华第一次担任男主角的电影，由由“新浪潮”导演刘成汉执导，任达华在片中与女主角洛碧琪不少激情戏，这在当时的电影尺度来说已算大胆。故事讲述的是一位乡下仔到下身瘫痪的富翁家应聘做园丁，后来与富翁之妻发生奸情，后来两人更杀掉富翁以主人自居！最后是富翁之妻疑神疑鬼，以为富翁亡魂返来复仇，结果在幻觉中将园丁杀死。
