I like JAV, but most of the actress are ugly. Plastic face, plastic boobs. I cant even fap. Wow, this isn't directed at you @vergil7 I promise, but I wish when members would start such threads they would include pictures of the actresses. Not only does it help tremendously for us to visualize what is being said/explained, it make the post MUCH less likely to be passed up and/or ignored. I read enough plain text documents at work all day, not too keen on doing it while enjoying a hobby as well.

I agree that newer actress are too generic in the look department and most of them have fake boobs now. I can't even fap to it. Older actress also have more acting in their performance some of them even looks genuine. I use to fap a lot to the attacker series, now I don't even bother because the actresses and their performance just doesn't do it for me.

Seedlovers is right, everybody has their own perspective of beauty, and beside the girls I picked, when I also read that Maya Kawamura or Nana Aoyama are average, wow, I don't know what to say.

I never look into JAV stars ranking, its rarely suit my taste :s

Not just you. The new generation of actresses are just too generic. There are exceptions of course but the majority seems that way.

I didn't see JAV from that era, only pics of some actresses and indeed, the natural japanese beauty of the girls was really visible. I think there are still a lot even if some girls try to look different with plastic surgery. My last shock was Arina Hashimoto, she ruined her face with that horrible nose job. Many fans seems to be fine with it and like you said, there is an audience that like western looking native asian girls (in Kpop it's the same, there are horrible PS cases). In my opinion, if they only care for a western look, they should rather watch western porn. There are tons of US asian actresses for example. unfortunately, it's too late as the JAV market tries to please them.
On the good side, many girls look very japanese, outside S1, it's even more visible. All the girls I follow look very japanese.

I only hope that JAV will not try to copy what's done in the west because it would be the end, clearly. And big studios (especially S1) should try to produce movies like independant studios like Hunter, IE NERGY, instead of doing the same movies with all their actresses. I always skip their movies where it's only "rabbit fucking" with Shimidouche or the old one licking the girls' face. Their "Full-Body Juicy Sex" or "Her First Massive Spasmic Special" series are annoying as hell. It's the typical stereotype that people get about JAV, a girl "screaming" and waiting that the guy finishes.
