Outside of a small village in Japan, a mysterious pond is inhabited by mythic creatures. Their story is of revenge, tragedy, and the power of real love. A classical tale which translates wonderfully to film.
This is the impossible-to-find Demon Pond from 1979, with an all-male cast (except for one woman in the beginning, I believe). It deserves better than the video oblivion into which it's fallen. All I have ever found is this rip from superhappyfun.com. Clearly duped from VHS dupes, I've tried to deinterlace it and clean it up a bit. The results are not splendid, but you can always see what Shinoda intended--though not what he achieved.
