The planet Earth is a distant racial memory, something talked about longingly by dreamers. Their stories tell of a planet that was ravaged by the uncaring habits of Mankind, of a planet only now becoming habitable again. Science has stepped in, and created a new world and a new civilization where everything is provided. This utopian society has come at a price: anything that can add a random element to the group is ruthlessly suppressed. Children are artificially created, and at the time of their "adult examination" their memories are taken from them, and those branded MU, disappear at hands of the Government! Common wisdom is that the MU are demons who use their powers of telepathy to destroy what has taken science centuries to create. At least, that's what everyone is told. Sadly, that's not who the monsters really are. The Mu want only what any creature wants: to live without the fear of being hunted down. The great computers will not allow this, the MU must be destroyed wherever they are seen. Now, the MU are marshalling their feeble strength in a desperate attempt to escape this hostile environment. They lack only one thing: the dynamic leader who can take them from the underground into the light. The events have been foretold. The great computers have located another MU who had not been noticed before.
