I'm a big fan of Baki and Airmaster, and want reccomendations for martial arts manga being scanlated. I used to read Tough, but it's stopped.

I want more focus on martial arts, but something like Sant Seiya and Hokuto no Ken is okay, too.

If you can point me the name of teh scnalation group or links, it would be nice, too.

Thanks!

lol, i thought this was the anime discussion thread. oh well.

anyways, if you wanna check out all the martial arts mangas that are being translated, then i suggest you go to mangaupdates.com

once you're there, on the top right corner in the search box, type in any series you want (including hentai haha) and click search. you'll most likely get a long list but just click on any one of the titles and once the page loads, check the "genre" section under the picture of the manga's cover. there should be multiple genres there but you can click any of them and once you click on one of them, it should take you into a genre search page. so make sure you click on martial arts and i suggest that you click on exclude "yaoi" cuz for some reason, there's always a few that pop no matter what genre you're in. and also, at the bottom of the page under "type", you should click on "show results for manga", otherwise, you'll get a lot doujins along with your search.

good luck finding a good one!

You can also try Vagabond which is a manga about Miyamoto Musashi by the same author that wrote Slam Dunk.

Shamo - very dark Seinen manga. I think the portrayal of the various martial arts are pretty accurate to real-life. A live-action Hong Kong film was made based on the manga a while back. But just warning you, the ending feels very rushed and disappointing.

Holy Land - Also a nice accurate portrayal of various martial arts. I liked this story. It was really complete. A Japanese live-action drama adaptation was made.

Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken. Kenshiro is basically Bruce Lee dressed up like Mad Max in a Mad Max The Road Warrior setting. Most of the styles and philosophies of martial arts are based on Chinese martial arts/wushu.

Dragon Ball - And by Dragon Ball, I mean from the very beginning, that spans Son Goku's youth up until it ends (before Dragon Ball Z begins). You can feel the Hong Kong/Jackie Chan film influence by the time they get to the tournament.

Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho have elements of hand-to-hand martial arts at certain parts, but it's not really the focus.
