problems with downloaded jav avi lately

Several of the recent JAVs I've downloaded have had problems playing. (They freeze) I try to use VirtuaDub to see if I could edit out the bad parts, but VD says that the files are not in detectable formats. This has happened with direct download and bit torrent downloads.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I am guessing perhaps my computer might be breaking down.

sometimes its just bad luck, some uploads are messed up! it happens quite a bit, one uploader i tryed had almost every single movie messed up, some also say it might be the host.
if not its probably your computer!

some uploaders use strange formats rmbv and other stuff , i can sometimes play it on only one of my 4 movie-players...
