Description
Many of the older JAV DVD rips available on the internet are not ideal. They've got ugly watermarks, are not full SD resolution and are poorly compressed. Or in many cases, the DVD rip just flat-out doesn't exist! Rather than complain, I've started renting these DVDs and ripping them myself! No bullshit, just full SD resolution and high quality video and audio! I'm also including the original chapters from the DVD. Audio is the original track simply passed through without re-compression.
I'm compressing them with the new High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) video codec, this codec is the successor to the popular h.264 codec and offers superior video quality and compression. Compressing with this codec requires powerful hardware and many many hours to complete, but the results look practically indistinguishable from the original source despite the tiny filesize! HEVC is a new codec, so you'll probably need to update your codecs (the latest CCCP works fine) and they probably won't play on a stand-alone player like the PS3. Also, at this stage, thumbnails are not supported.
