Plot:
Based on the true story of Bang Sung Bin, Homeless Angel was subject to intense censorship for its portrayal of the atrocities of colonial life in Korea. The film earned substantial critical acclaim as one of the best films made in Korea during the Japanese occupation era. Sold to street urchins at an early age, Myung Ja (Kim Shin Jae) and her brother Young Gil (Lee Wook Ha) live as street beggars, barely making ends meet. One day, Young Gil makes a run for his life and meets pastor Bang Sung Bin (Kim Il Hae), who takes Young Gil under his wings. For a long time, pastor Bang had dreamed of opening an orphanage. With the help of his brother-in-law, Dr. Ahn In Gyu (Jin Hoon), Bang opens the Haang Lyn Won orphanage. Meanwhile,Young Gil reunites with his sister Myung Ja who becomes a nurse at the orphanage.
